Job summary

RCG, Inc. is seeking a Systems Administrator - Windows to support a federal government contract in Washington, DC.

This hands-on role will install, configure, maintain, secure, and support Windows servers and virtual environments to ensure stability and security across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have a BS in CS/IT, 3–5 years of sysadmin experience, an active Top Secret clearance, and a CompTIA Security+ certification.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
3-5 years of experience in systems administration or a related IT discipline.
U.S. Citizenship and an active Top Secret security clearance.
CompTIA Security+ certification.
Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or equivalent Microsoft certification.
Experience with virtualization technologies and virtual server environments.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, maintain, and support Windows servers and virtual environments.
Monitor Windows systems for stability, availability, performance, security, and scalability.
Troubleshoot and resolve server, OS, application, and user-reported issues.
Review system and error logs to identify and resolve technical problems.
Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and patching.
Manage user accounts, system access, permissions, and related administrative functions.
Maintain server security and support vulnerability remediation activities.
Perform and monitor system backups and support recovery activities.
Provide technical support for users and back-end systems.
Support Windows Server upgrades, migrations, and other infrastructure improvements.
Collaborate with IT managers and technical team members to resolve issues and maintain reliable system operations.
Maintain appropriate technical documentation related to system configurations, maintenance, and support activities.

The Opportunity

RCG is seeking a Systems Administrator - Windows to support an ongoing federal government contract in Washington, DC. This is a hands‑on systems administration role responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, security, and support of Windows servers and virtual environments . The successful candidate will help ensure the stability, availability, performance, and security of enterprise Windows systems while providing technical support and troubleshooting across the environment.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
3-5 years of experience in systems administration or a related IT discipline.
U.S. Citizenship and an active Top Secret security clearance.
CompTIA Security+ certification.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, and 2019 environments.
Demonstrated hands‑on experience administering Windows servers.
Experience with virtualization technologies and virtual server environments .
Familiarity with databases, patch management, and LAN/WAN networking .
Knowledge of network security systems, intrusion detection, system hardening, and data backup.
Experience managing user access, permissions, and system security.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a technical team.

Preferred Qualifications

Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or equivalent Microsoft certification.
Experience supporting Windows systems within a federal government or other highly regulated environment.

Work Environment

This is a full‑time, 100% on‑site position in Washington, DC , requiring attendance five days per week. There are no remote work options for this position. The selected candidate will support an active federal government environment and work closely with IT managers, systems administrators, technical support personnel, and other infrastructure professionals.

Please Note The successful candidate will receive a contingent offer pending completion of applicable government background investigation and customer onboarding requirements. Candidates cannot begin work until all required government processing has been successfully completed.
