Job Description: GDIT is looking for a System Administrator-Azure (DevOps Engineer) to join our team’s effort to modernize 12 US Government spectrum and frequency management systems.
How a Systems Administrator Senior Will Make An Impact:
- You will be responsible for distributed and managed services, automating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services. You will manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency and guide and manage software releases for new features and support users through consolidation. Performs the administrative operation of server hardware and software. Ensures system security and executes practices and procedures. Troubleshoots system related problems. Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications. Recommends future direction or projects to management. Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system.
- Plan, design, and build system images with operating systems and key mission applications to support training and operations.
- Updating and patching systems, as required.
- Test and provision systems, while integrating applications with enterprise and organizational services and licensing.
- Identify and analyze system errors; work with users and vendors to resolve. Orchestrate patching, updates, and application deployment using organizational tools such as System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), and BigFix.
- Work closely with Information System Owner (ISO), and Information System Security Officer (ISSO), to integrate compliance agents, patches, and STIGs in accordance with government standards, the Risk Management Framework, and various controls and overlays.
- Develops advanced technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.
- Develops training materials for end users on the proper use of hardware and software.
- Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
- Leads efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
- Develops performance and security plans for computers that meet the needs of network users.
- May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.
What You’ll Need To Succeed:
- Participated in or led agile development teams
- In-depth understanding of DevOps methodologies
- Education: Bachelor's Degree with 6 - 10 years of experience
Required Skillset:
- Experience in Microsoft Azure
- Valued Certification(s): Microsoft Azure Administrator or equivalent
- Security+ Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support
- Knowledge of related hardware and software
- Experienced using Git, GitHub, and Databricks
- Experience in release management
- Experience supporting production systems using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices
- Excellent communication and briefing skills; tactful; effective listening skills and follow-through
- Solid work ethic and ability to work in a mission-critical environment
- Detail-oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work
- Provides technical guidance and leadership to less experienced engineers
- Desired Skillsets: Experience with Kubernetes

The likely salary range for this position is $97,063 - $131,321. Salary will be based on experience, location, and contractual requirements.
