Overview

GovCIO is seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to support the management and maintenance of the Veterans Affairs IT infrastructure. This is a night shift role involving troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues, ensuring optimal performance and security, and executing scheduled maintenance and upgrades. The candidate will collaborate with stakeholders, government leadership, and engineering teams to design, maintain, and optimize server environments in line with customer requirements. This is a fully remote position.

Please note: The contract has been awarded; however, this position remains unfunded and is contingent upon funding release.

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement solutions to enhance reliability and security.
• Ensure security compliance by overseeing access controls, backups, and firewall management.
• Administer network servers and technology tools, driving improvements and scalability.
• Establish and configure user accounts and workstations to support organizational productivity.
• Perform system upgrades, deploying new releases and tools to maintain cutting-edge standards.
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations and policies for clarity and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field with 12 years of relevant experience (preferably in application support or development).
• Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with customers and teams.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall configurations.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain suitability/Public Trust.

Compensation

The posted pay range is indicative of the expected starting range, but actual pay may vary based on factors like skills, experience, and location. The total compensation may include additional elements discussed during hiring. Employment is at-will, and GovCIO reserves the right to modify salary and compensation at any time.

Salary Range

USD $130,000.00 - USD $155,000.00 /Yr.
