Job description

The systems administrator performs duties on-site at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Manages a data center consisting of physical and virtual servers and workstations with eight Command and Control Information Systems (CPCE, CPOF, JBC-P, AFATDS, AMDWS, TAIS, DCGS-A, GCCS-A). Systems Administrator supports the day-to-day systems for the Mission Command Digital Master Gunner (MCDMG) Course. Must be able to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain all systems. Additionally, must be able to manage SharePoint, Windows Server 2019, SQL, Active Directory, Linux Enterprise 8 servers, Solaris servers, Cisco and Dell switches and routers, ACAS, V-Sphere software, and Army Portfolio Management System that supports the training network. Will work with an IT team to ensure all systems are operational prior to each day. Will conduct periodic updates to systems as needed. Will ensure the network supporting the systems remains secure and reliable. Former Warrant Officer or Noncommissioned Officer preferred.

Specific Duties:

  1. Configure all DCGS-A servers, GCCS-A servers, DDS servers, and all other servers that allow the WfF C2IS to communicate and integrate the COP into the MCWS/CPCE and JBC-P.
  2. Diagnose software and hardware failures to resolution.
  3. Identify and resolve common software and hardware problems, questions, or situations.
  4. Maintain accountability for software programs assigned to organization.
  5. Operate and maintain the LAN and system interfaces.
  6. Provide protocol services expertise and troubleshoot network/communications problems.
  7. Add/remove hardware and software and administer access permission lists.
  8. Maintain the Network Information Services permissions program.
  9. Perform system backups and upgrades.
  10. Generate periodic system performance and utilization summaries.
  11. Backup data and audit files on a routine basis.
  12. Coordinate management of User IDs.
  13. Diagnose system problems and report to IT government representatives.
  14. Monitor system performance to ensure optimal performance.
  15. Reconfigure servers to regain processing capabilities for non-routine equipment outages and malfunctions.
  16. Assist users in determining the cause of failures.
  17. Configure DDS advertisement services.
  18. Develop and publish data.
  19. Manage metadata specifications.
  20. Implement patching and IAVA updates.

Qualifications:

  1. Possess a valid, current DoD Secret clearance prior to start of work.
  2. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a systems administrator responsible for the imaging, maintenance, and troubleshooting on unique Command and Control Information Systems (C2IS) to include but not limited to AFATDS, AMDWS, TAIS, GCCS-A, DCGS-A, JBC-P, CPCE, and CPOF.
  3. Certified at the Information Assurance (IA) Technical Level II level as stipulated in DoD 8570.01-M with applicable Computing Environment (CE) or Operating System (OS): Server 2019 and Linux Enterprise 8.
  4. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
