About the Role

During a typical day as a Systems Administrator at ALT Consulting, you'll be designing, deploying, and managing the infrastructure that our law firm clients depend on. You'll work with servers, cloud environments, backup systems, and network infrastructure to ensure client environments are secure, reliable, and well-maintained.

You'll collaborate with our consultants to plan and execute infrastructure projects, from Microsoft 365 migrations to network upgrades to disaster recovery implementations. Our clients rely on your expertise to build and maintain the systems that run their firms.

Each day you will be empowered to solve complex technical challenges, take ownership of client environments, and work with a team that holds itself to a high standard.

Workstation and Office Setup

You will be well equipped to handle your role with your own advanced technology setup. When working from the office, you'll be in your own private workspace, which includes an immersive 40-inch 4K monitor, a MacBook Pro, quality peripherals, and an ergonomic desk and chair.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage server and network infrastructure for law firm clients
• Administer Microsoft 365 tenants, Azure environments, and related cloud services
• Maintain and test backup systems and disaster recovery procedures
• Monitor system performance and respond to alerts and incidents
• Manage identity and access across client environments including Active Directory and Entra ID
• Plan and execute infrastructure migrations and upgrades
• Maintain firewall, switching, and wireless infrastructure
• Document client environments, configurations, and procedures
• Mentor and support junior technical staff on infrastructure topics
• Identify and address vulnerabilities in client environments proactively

About You

• 4+ years of experience in systems administration or a related role
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure administration
• Working knowledge of network infrastructure including firewalls, switches, and VLANs
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and client accounts
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Clear written and verbal communication skills

Considered an Asset

• Microsoft certifications such as Azure Administrator or MCSA
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery platforms such as Datto or Veeam
• Familiarity with legal IT environments or professional services firms
• Experience in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST or CIS Controls
• Experience with RMM tools such as ConnectWise Automate or NinjaRMM
