Position Introduction/Key Duties

Cimarron is seeking a Systems Administrator Lead to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at the Redstone Arsenal in the Huntsville, AL.

Key Duties

  • Administer and manage Microsoft Windows environments, including server and client systems.
  • Configure, operate, and maintain physical and virtual servers.
  • Manage and maintain client-based computer systems.
  • Conduct system monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and incident response activities.
  • Perform hardware and software operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to resolve system and client-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD Information System Vulnerability Management (IAVM) through routine patching and updates.
  • Maintain configuration management for system changes, patches, and antivirus software updates.
  • Analyze virtual system (HYPER-V) performance, including resource utilization and system health.
  • Perform routine system scans and implement antivirus updates across all systems.
  • Utilize scripting tools and languages to automate system administration tasks.
  • Provide system administration support during IT meetings and configuration activities.


Required/Desired Skills, Experience, And Education

Required Skills, Experience, and Education :

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at the time.
  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. If you are unsure whether your ID is Real ID-compliant, please check for the star symbol in the upper portion of your driver's license or state ID.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain a SCI clearance.
  • 6 or more years of directly related experience in system administration.
  • Experience with Active Directory and its components, including ADUC, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Current DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE).


Desired Skills, Experience, And Education

  • Windows client and server certifications.
  • Red Hat certification required.
  • Proficiency in Windows Systems Administration.
  • Proficiency in Linux Systems Administration.
  • Hands-on experience administering virtualization solutions, particularly HYPER-V.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools such as CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Puppet, and Ansible.
  • Basic networking knowledge.
  • Experience with automation, systems provisioning, and management solutions.
  • Experience with scripting or software development.
  • Experience with operating system hardening using standards like DISA STIGs.
  • Experience with storage systems, especially SAN and NAS technologies.
