Job summary

United States Courts in New York is seeking a Systems Administrator/IT Security Officer for the Eastern District of New York. The role combines systems administration with implementing security policies, vulnerabilities remediation, and staff support.

The candidate will deploy patches, manage configurations, monitor security logs, and participate in district-wide IT projects. Occasional travel between Brooklyn and Central Islip offices is required.

Qualifications

• Two years of specialized experience or a master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred.
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with security policies and disaster recovery planning is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and document software; manage deployment, patching and upgrades using endpoint management tools.
• Recommend and test deployment of patches and security updates to servers and workstations.
• Remediate security vulnerabilities and monitor network components for performance and security improvements.
• Provide technical expertise in development and support of court systems; troubleshoot failures and determine root cause.
• Analyze user needs and coordinate hardware/software installations; provide end-user training.
