Job summary

The University of Connecticut’s Connecticut Education Network (CEN) within ITS is seeking an IT professional to maintain and secure our server, storage, and network infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud environments. As Sys Admin 1, you will troubleshoot and support Windows Server and Linux systems, manage IAM, and assist with network services, backups, and automation.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting Windows Server 2019 or better and Linux platforms.
• Knowledge of networking and firewall technologies and policies.
• Experience with server/system automation tools and techniques.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences.
• Experience with hypervisors and high-availability architectures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an administrator for CEN’s server and network infrastructure and manage vendors.
• Ensure security, high availability, and periodic security scans and remediation.
• Develop and support on-prem and cloud-based systems including IAM and AD.
• Manage monitoring, out-of-band access, and asset inventory.
• Assist with Wi‑Fi and fiber monitoring and GIS mapping as needed.
• Participate in on-call rotation and travel for regional support.
