Job summary

SMX is seeking a systems administrator to support DoD networks at Patuxent River NAS, southern Maryland. You will join a команда of experts delivering secure IT services for aircraft and weapons systems with onsite responsibilities.

This role requires a Top Secret clearance (interim TS acceptable to start) and 3+ years of sysadmin experience. Familiarity with VMware, ACAS scanning, app deployments, and DoD 8570 qualifications is essential, along with OS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide solutions for government hosting facilities and support for DoD networks
• Deploy and maintain physical/virtual hardware, including VMs and containers
• Perform routine maintenance and configuration of servers and IT equipment
• Install, configure, troubleshoot hardware/software issues on servers/workstations
• Maintain backups and disaster recovery plans
• Manage user accounts and permissions
• Deploy and maintain software applications
• Troubleshoot issues and provide customer guidance
• Maintain documentation and incident response actions
• Secure information systems per DoD guidance and monitor security posture
• Provide networking support to on-premises infrastructure

Job description

SMX is looking for a highly motivated Systems Administrator with demonstrated experience performing System Administration functions on Aircraft or Weapons Systems networks, and maintaining and upgrading network infrastructures. This position will provide onsite support at Patuxent River NAS in southern Maryland.

As the Systems Administrator, you will join a team of highly-driven, supportive, and skilled professionals engaged in supporting program management, technical, or business case analysis across the NAVAIR community.

• Provide solutions for various and unique problem sets and customers in a government software hosting facility.
• Deploy and maintain physical and virtual hardware infrastructure, to include virtual machines and containers.
• Perform routine maintenance and configuration changes to various physical and virtual hosts.
• Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues on servers, workstations, and IT equipment.
• Maintain system backups and disaster recovery plans.
• Manage user accounts and permissions.
• Deploy and maintain software applications.
• Troubleshoot technical issues.
• Maintain documentation to include knowledge base, incident response actions, system configurations, and other information related to system administration.
• Provide technical support to customers, ranging from resolving technical issues to providing guidance and best-practices.
• Secure information systems and applications to current DoD guidance
• Maintain configuration and security posture of information systems through continuous monitoring and routine security events/reporting.
• Provide networking support to on-premises infrastructure.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Clearance Required: Top Secret
  • An interim TS is required to start; will consider upgrading candidate from Secret
• At least 3 years of relevant systems administration experience is required
• Qualified candidates should have familiarity with the following:
  • Server builds and maintenance
  • VMware management
  • ACAS scanning and credentialing
  • Application deployments
• Knowledge of networking principles, theories, and concepts and ability to contribute to the development of new and innovative principles and concepts.
• CompTIA Security+ or other DOD INST 8570 compliant qualification is required
• Operating system certification (i.e. Windows or Linux)
