Job summary

Swift is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our growing team in Annapolis Junction, MD and Bluffdale, Utah. The SA will support mission-critical IT systems, optimize operations, and troubleshoot complex environments across Linux, Windows, and HPC platforms.

Qualifications include a technical bachelor's degree and extensive SA experience; a current government clearance (plus polygraph) is required. This role offers challenging, mission-driven work in a security-focused setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
• Ten (10) years of SA experience in similar scope and complexity required (Level 2).
• Fifteen (15) years of SA experience in similar scope and complexity required (Level 3).

Responsibilities

• Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems.
• Manage day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform capacity analysis and planning.
• Provide in-depth experience in trouble-shooting IT systems and feedback to management.
• Support dispatch system and hardware problems and participate in resolution.
• Configure and manage enterprise OS including RHEL, Rocky Linux, and Windows; perform installation, patching, tuning.
• Describe systems, mission architecture and associated hardware.
• Understand system administration interdependencies as part of SOA.
• Analyze and resolve complex problems with server hardware, applications and software integration.
• Support HPC tools such as Slurm, PBS, or Grid Engine.
• Manage distributed file systems like Lustre or GPFS and troubleshoot I/O.
• Monitor and maintain high-speed interconnects like InfiniBand, Slingshot, or Omni-Path.

This role is ideal for a motivated IT professional with a passion for system reliability, performance optimization, and supporting mission-critical infrastructure. As a key member of our technical operations group, the SA will:

Responsibilities

• Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
• Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning
• Provide in-depth experience in trouble-shooting IT systems
• Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets
• Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process
• Configure and manage enterprise-grade operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Rocky Linux, and Windows. Perform OS installation, patching, and tuning; troubleshoot system and network components; and implement enhancements to improve reliability, performance, and scalability across diverse environments.
• Support the description of systems, mission architecture and associated hardware
• Possess a working knowledge and understanding of system administration interdependencies as part of the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
• Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration
• Support and maintain HPC tools such as Slurm, PBS, or Grid Engine
• Manage distributed file systems like Lustre or GPFS, and troubleshoot I/O performance issues
• Monitor and maintain high-speed interconnects such as InfiniBand, Slingshot, or Omni-Path

Requirements

Level 1-At least five (5) years of experience as a SA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Desired

• Experience supporting and maintain HPC architectures including Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) and Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP) systems to enable scalable, high-throughput computing.
• Experience integrating and managing Special Purpose Devices (SPD) such as FPGAs, ASICs, and GPUs, ensuring seamless hardware/software interaction and optimal performance.
• Experience collaborating with software integration engineers and technical experts to enhance system-level performance, scalability, and reliability through co-design and cross-functional optimization

Security Clearance

• A current government clearance, background investigation, and polygraph are required.
