Lange Companies is currently looking for a Systems Administrator to join our Team.

In this position, the Systems Administrator will help strengthen, improve, and modernize the technology platforms that support our employees, customers, and family of companies. Some areas of our environment are advanced and cloud-forward, while others offer meaningful opportunities to improve, simplify, document, automate, or rebuild. The successful candidate will be curious, self-directed, and passionate about technology. They will take time to understand existing systems, identify gaps and opportunities, develop practical recommendations, and drive solutions through implementation. This role requires strong ownership, sound judgment, excellent communication, and the confidence to challenge assumptions professionally while knowing when to seek input or assistance.

This opportunity is available in the following location: St. Louis, MO

Responsibilities:
  • Lead or participate in technology projects involving cloud services, infrastructure, automation, cybersecurity, collaboration platforms, data platforms, and business applications.
  • Identify gaps, risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities across the technology environment, and drive practical improvements from evaluation through implementation with limited day-to-day oversight.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend technologies, vendors, and approaches that align with business needs; develop proof-of-concept solutions and clear comparisons where appropriate.
  • Coordinate internal resources, managed service providers, vendors, and business stakeholders to keep technical initiatives moving and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and related cloud technologies.
  • Participate in the administration and continuous improvement of cloud infrastructure, virtual systems, identity, networking, security, and business application environments.
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, standards, procedures, runbooks, decision records, and knowledge articles. Documentation quality and completeness are key measures of success in this role.
  • Identify and close gaps in existing documentation, reduce dependency on tribal knowledge, and ensure projects, configurations, and operational procedures are understandable and maintainable.
  • Evaluate when work should be performed directly, automated, delegated, or coordinated through an external provider, with a focus on timely execution and sustainable internal capability.
  • Support help desk effectiveness through escalation assistance, root-cause analysis, documentation, training, and process improvement without serving as a primary help desk resource.
  • Provide timely, meaningful communication regarding projects, upgrades, outages, technology changes, and implementation status to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry practices, and identify where they can be applied to improve reliability, efficiency, scalability, or business outcomes.
  • Perform other IT-related tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Approximately 10 years of progressive experience supporting and improving enterprise technology environments.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, and cloud-first environments that may include virtual infrastructure and legacy business systems.
  • Demonstrated success leading or significantly contributing to technical projects from evaluation through implementation.
  • Exceptional documentation habits and the ability to translate technical knowledge into clear, usable procedures and communications.
  • Experience coordinating managed service providers, vendors, consultants, and other external technology partners.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, exercise sound judgment, and drive initiatives to completion.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with automation, scripting, systems integration, and process improvement.
  • Experience evaluating technology platforms or vendors and presenting well-reasoned recommendations and alternatives.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity, governance, business continuity, or operational maturity initiatives.
