Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Windows and Linux server experience.
• 5+ years in hybrid infrastructure, cloud services, or migrations.
• Strong HA architectures and redundancy knowledge.
• 5+ years with PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages.
• 5+ years with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-enabled infrastructure (AWS, Azure).

• Strong TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching fundamentals.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Client and Human Services (NC DHHS) is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator II to support a highly available hybrid infrastructure spanning on-premises Windows and Linux servers and cloud-based environments.

The successful candidate will help maintain secure, reliable, and high-performing enterprise infrastructure, support connectivity between cloud and on-premises environments, assist with database migration initiatives, and contribute to infrastructure modernization and automation efforts.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Windows/Linux administration, virtualization, networking, load balancing, firewalls, cloud infrastructure, scripting, and enterprise monitoring tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain hybrid infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments, including Windows/Linux servers, virtual machines, storage, identity platforms, and connectivity services.
• Assist with secure connectivity between cloud environments and on-premises data centers using VPNs, direct connectivity solutions, routing, and identity federation.
• Participate in database replication and migration initiatives between on-premises databases and cloud-managed database services.
• Perform system administration activities including patching, configuration updates, automated deployments, performance tuning, log analysis, backups, and capacity planning.
• Administer and troubleshoot F5 BIG-IP traffic managers, including VIP configuration, pool management, SSL profiles, and health monitoring.
• Assist with Palo Alto firewall administration, including security policies, NAT rules, and operational troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with network teams to troubleshoot Layer 2/Layer 3 networking issues involving routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, and load balancing.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, system procedures, and standard operating procedures.
• Support incident response by investigating system issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
• Perform vulnerability management activities, including system scanning, reviewing findings, prioritizing risks, and implementing remediation.
• Support new system deployments, infrastructure upgrades, cloud initiatives, and automation projects.
• Work closely with technical teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure reliable enterprise services.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting Windows and Linux server environments.
• 5+ years of experience with hybrid infrastructure, cloud services, or cloud migration activities.
• Strong understanding of high-availability architectures, redundancy, and enterprise infrastructure.
• 5+ years of experience using PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages for automation and troubleshooting.
• 5+ years of experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-integrated infrastructure, including AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments.
• Experience supporting connectivity between on-premises and cloud resources.
