Job summary

Og&e is seeking an IT systems administrator to oversee applications, operating systems, databases, and hardware. Responsibilities include disaster recovery planning, change control, and real-time monitoring to ensure system reliability.

This role requires education in information technology or a related field and hands-on experience with complex IT environments, with preferred Linux and container platform familiarity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, information technology, engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Alternatively, HS diploma with 6 years of related experience.
• Experience supporting multiple, complex IT systems and environments.

Responsibilities

• Follow change control procedures and standards.
• Develop, test, implement, and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures.
• Install and upgrade application systems or IT systems (OS, storage, data centers, databases) independently or with a team.
• Assist in coordination and monitoring of systems, databases and system software for problems or modifications.
• Establish, test, and implement backup and recovery procedures.
• Maintain application or IT systems including patches, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and tuning.
• Perform impact analysis of new or expanding IT systems and coordinate upgrades to meet SLAs.
• Provide input to planning groups on upgrade impact and effort.
• Ensure high accuracy and coordination of databases, systems and applications.
• Provide real-time support and updates to databases, networks and systems.
• Broad technical understanding of supported systems.
• All other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for administration of applications, operating systems, databases, or hardware. Responsibilities for installation, upgrade, change control, real-time monitoring, accuracy, coordination, troubleshooting, problem resolution, capacity planning, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery planning.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

General responsibilities with standardized processes. Works under limited supervision. Resolves routine questions and problems. Refers the more complex issues to higher levels. Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job. Some latitude for deviation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Follow change control procedures and standards.
• Develop, test, implement, and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures.
• Install and upgrade application systems or IT systems (operating systems, storage systems, Data Center hardware, or databases) independently or as part of a team.
• Assist in coordination, and monitoring of systems, databases and system software for problems or needed modifications.
• Establish, test, and implement procedures for application or data backup and recovery.
• Maintain application or IT systems including installation of patches, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and tuning.
• Perform impact analysis of new or expanding application or IT systems and coordinates with Systems Analysts to determine upgrades necessary to meet service level requirements.
• Provide input to planning groups on the impact of prospective upgrades and work effort required.
• Ensure a high degree of accuracy, coordination and administration of respective databases, systems and applications.
• Provide real time support and updates to databases, networks and systems.
• Broad technical understanding of application or IT systems supported.
• All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical discipline and 2 years experience supporting multiple, complex and/or advanced application or IT systems; Or
• High School Diploma/GED and 6 years experience supporting multiple, complex and/or advanced application or IT systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Kubernetes container platforms, monitoring tools and technical troubleshooting

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Extensive hours working at a PC.
• May be required to work non-standard work schedules.
