Job summary

Optomi is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to support critical infrastructure in Moncks Corner, SC. You will manage Windows Server and RHEL, VMware virtualization, and on-premises environments, ensuring reliability and security.

You’ll join a hands-on team with rotating on-call coverage and opportunities to contribute to patching, monitoring, and documentation, while collaborating across IT to improve operations.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience administering Windows Server and RHEL.
• Experience supporting VMware virtualization and on-premises enterprise infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and basic troubleshooting.
• Experience with enterprise backup, endpoint protection, or monitoring solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across server, OS, and infrastructure environments.
• Ability to document work and collaborate with a team.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
• Support a highly virtualized infrastructure built on VMware.
• Maintain server performance, availability, and reliability for mission-critical systems.
• Evaluate, test, and deploy operating system and application patches.
• Troubleshoot Active Directory, server configurations, and infrastructure issues; support backup, endpoint protection, and security monitoring.
• Work with Veeam, Symantec Endpoint Protection, Tripwire, and PRTG.
• Assist with networking infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and monitoring.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and configurations.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on operational support and improvements.

Job description

Optomi, in partnership with a leading energy provider, is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to support critical infrastructure operations and high-priority technology initiatives in Moncks Corner, SC!

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on infrastructure professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, working with Windows and Linux environments, and taking ownership of reliable, secure enterprise infrastructure.

You'll join an established technical team supporting a highly virtualized, primarily on-premises environment where your expertise will have a direct impact on day-to-day operations and infrastructure reliability.

• Location: Moncks Corner, SC
• Schedule: Primarily onsite, with potential flexibility for a 4-day onsite / 1-day remote arrangement
• Employment: Open to Contract-to-Hire or Direct Hire
• Environment: On-premises infrastructure, approximately 95% virtualized
• On-Call: Rotating 24/7 support coverage, with historically light call volume

What You'll Be Doing

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
• Support a highly virtualized infrastructure built primarily on VMware.
• Maintain server performance, availability, and reliability across mission-critical systems.

What We're Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience administering Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Experience supporting VMware virtualization and on-premises enterprise infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and basic network troubleshooting.
• Experience with enterprise backup, endpoint protection, or infrastructure monitoring solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across server, operating system, and infrastructure environments.
• Ability to work independently, document technical work, and collaborate effectively with a team.

Bonus Experience:

• Experience supporting Operational Technology (OT) or critical infrastructure environments.
• Familiarity with NERC CIP or NIST security standards.
• Experience with Veeam, PRTG, Symantec Endpoint Protection, or Tripwire.
• Firewall administration or configuration experience.
• Background supporting utilities, energy, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
