Responsibilities

• Monitor and coordinate all data system operations, including security procedures, and liaison with end users.
• Ensure that necessary system backups are performed and storage and rotation of backups is accomplished.
• Monitor and maintain records of system performance and capacity to arrange vendor services or other actions for reconfiguration and anticipate requirements for system expansion.
• Assist managers to monitor and comply with State data security requirements.
• Coordinate software development, user training, network management and minor installation and repair of equipment.

• Provide IT system, hardware, and software support for various IT systems.
• Provide support, management and installation services for desktop and server operating systems such as Microsoft Server.
• Manage/administer virtualization platforms such as VMware.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by MDTA Division of Information Technology management.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline.
• Two (2) years of experience in a computer related field.
• One (1) year experience administering multiuser, shared processor systems and data communications networks.

Desired Qualifications

• Three (3) years’ experience in each of the following: supporting a networked IT systems environment (protocols, DNS, etc.), Microsoft Windows Server Family, Active Directory, Exchange & Outlook, server security (group policy), Enterprise storage (NAS/SAN), server performance monitoring tools, and server/desktop virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).
