Job summary

Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau seeks an IT Operations Manager to oversee core infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization, backups, and security. You will manage the IT Helpdesk, coordinate patches and upgrades, and ensure data protection and business continuity in a fast-paced org.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, administering Microsoft 365, maintaining documentation, and supporting the Senior Director of IT with budgeting and planning.

Qualifications

  • Experience administering enterprise IT environments including servers, storage, virtualization and backup systems.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud services, endpoint management, and identity/access controls.
  • Familiarity with IT operations, incident management, and change control processes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee server infrastructure, storage, virtualization, backup and recovery, and directory services to ensure secure, efficient operations.
  • Monitor system health, security, capacity, and performance; identify risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Plan and test patches, upgrades, and maintenance in line with policies and procedures.
  • Oversee IT Helpdesk operations, including ticketing, prioritization, escalation, and customer service.
  • Supervise assigned staff with performance feedback and development.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 environment, identity/access, permissions, and user provisioning.
  • Review and document system configurations, inventories, and knowledge base materials.
  • Provide advanced technical support for enterprise applications, servers, storage, OS, backups, and incidents.
  • Coordinate with network, cybersecurity, and other departments for dependent infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation and support procedures.
  • Assist Senior Director of IT with planning, budgeting, and lifecycle management.
  • Stay informed about emerging IT trends and evaluate relevance to operations.
  • Develop technology training and user adoption resources.

Job description

JOB OBJECTIVE: To oversee, maintain, secure, and optimize the primary systems and applications, server environments, storage platforms, backup and recovery services, directory services, virtualization resources, and associated enterprise infrastructure to support secure and efficient technology operations within the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.Manages server infrastructure, storage environments, virtualization platforms, backup systems, recovery processes, file services, directory services, and related systems software to ensure secure, and efficient technology operations; coordinates with departments to align storage and data management practices with LRCVB technology goals.

2.Monitors system access, availability, capacity, documentation, health, performance, security, storage utilization, backup status, and lifecycle requirements; identifies risks or service issues and implements corrective actions to maintain business continuity and operational reliability.

3.Plans, coordinates, tests, and implements system patches, software updates, server upgrades, storage changes, application enhancements, configuration changes, and related maintenance activities in compliance with all applicable LRCVB policies and procedures.

4.Oversees the IT Helpdesk operations, to include ticket intake, prioritization, assignment, escalation, resolution tracking,compliance to service standards, documentation, customer service expectations, and follow-up support for LRCVB departments and staff.

5.Assigns, prioritizes, and monitors the work of assigned personnel; provides ongoing supervision, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure operational effectiveness and consistent delivery of technical services.

6.Administers Microsoft 365 environment, identity & access, permissions, authentication, endpoint management, security groups, shared resources, and user provisioning processes in compliance with LRCVB technology standards, organizational policies, and least-privilege practices.

7.Reviews and analyzes server, storage, application, backup, endpoint, and security environments to ensure effective and secure operations; implements safeguards, configuration standards, monitoring practices, and documentation to reduce operational risks.

8.Provides advanced technical support and troubleshooting for enterprise applications, servers, storage, operating systems, backup failures, access issues, hardware problems, software issues, service interruptions, and escalated Helpdesk tickets.

9.Oversees data storage, backup, recovery, retention, file management, disaster recovery readiness, and system availability requirements; coordinates with LRCVB departments to support data management needs, align storage practices with technology goals, verify backup integrity, and support restoration processes as needed.

10.Coordinates with network, cybersecurity, telecommunications, facilities, and vendor resources to support dependent infrastructure, cloud-based services, IoT-connected systems, security systems, remote access, monitoring tools, integrations, and system-related service needs.

11.Maintains accurate system documentation, application inventories, server and storage records, configuration standards, support procedures, access records, maintenance schedules, and technical knowledge base materials.

12.Provides assistance to the Senior Director of Information Technology with systems planning, technology lifecycle management, budget forecasting, procurement recommendations, software licensing, maintenance agreements, cloud service planning, technology trend evaluation, and operational improvements related to enterprise systems and infrastructure.

13.Conducts research to stay abreast of emerging technologies, evolving IT practices, cybersecurity trends, and applicable industry standards; evaluates their relevance to LRCVB systems, operations, service delivery, and long-term technology planning; makes recommendations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the technical operational.

14.Develops and supports technology training, user adoption resources, and technical documentation related to systems, applications, cybersecurity practices, Helpdesk procedures, and approved operational standards.

15.Prepares reports and status updates on system availability, storage utilization, backup status, application performance, Helpdesk performance, workload, maintenance needs, project progress, and technology risks; submits to appropriate personnel as required.

16.Interacts with LRCVB employees, departments, vendors, and other stakeholders in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner.

17.Operates a personal computer utilizing database, spreadsheet, and word processing software to prepare various narrative and statistical reports in the performance of essential job functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of principles and practices of systems administration, enterprise application administration, Microsoft 365 administration, server administration, storage management, virtualization, backup and recovery, directory services, endpoint management, cloud computing, IT operations, and information security.

Knowledge of server, storage, virtualization, backup, recovery, file management, systems software, endpoint management, and data retrieval principles and practices.

Knowledge of enterprise application support, access management, application integrations, patch management, vendor coordination, licensing support, system documentation, and technology lifecycle management.

Knowledge of cloud computing concepts, Microsoft 365 services, IoT systems, connected devices, automation tools, artificial intelligence concepts, and emerging technology trends relevant to enterprise operations and service delivery.

Knowledge of IT Helpdesk management practices, ticketing procedures, service standards, escalation processes, technical documentation, and end-user support operations.

Knowledge of supervisory practices related to Helpdesk operations, including workload assignment, ticket escalation, staff coaching, service standards, documentation, customer service expectations, and professional communication.

Knowledge of network security and cybersecurity principles and practices.

Knowledge of general budget processes.

Knowledge of computer fundamentals and skills of operating a computer, utilizing spreadsheet and word processing software.

Skill in the operation of a personal computer, utilizing spreadsheet and work processing software.

Ability to develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.

Ability to administer and maintain enterprise systems, applications, servers, storage platforms, backup systems, access controls, data management practices, and related infrastructure in coordination with departments and in alignment with LRCVB technology goals.

Ability to assign, prioritize, and monitor the work activities of assigned personnel.

Ability to maintain hard copy and computer files and records.

Ability to analyze and assess programs, policies, and operational needs and make appropriate adjustments.

Ability to conduct research, analyze, and evaluate new service delivery methods and techniques.

Ability to analyze and plan for future information technology requirements.

Ability to analyze current and future systems, applications, cloud services, IoT-connected systems, storage, server, and infrastructure requirements and recommend practical improvements aligned with organizational needs.

Ability to develop bid specifications for purchase of computing hardware and software.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and materials relating to electronic data processing equipment.

Ability to prepare and analyze detailed narrative and statistical reports regarding information processing systems and potential enhancements.

Ability to analyze and interpret data and to prepare reports based upon research findings.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; five (5) years of demonstrated professional-level experience in systems administration, enterprise application administration, Microsoft 365 administration, server management, storage management, virtualization, backup and recovery, endpoint management, cloud services, networking, cybersecurity, Helpdesk operations, or related areas; and one (1) year of experience supervising, leading, or coordinating Helpdesk or technical support staff. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be available to respond to emergency calls outside of normal working hours and be available to work evenings, holidays, and weekends as required.
