Job summary

STEELGATE LLC seeks an experienced Systems Administrator to provide enterprise IT support for the Government IT environment across multiple locations, including Hawaii.

The role covers installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance of servers, AD, 365, Azure, and virtualization platforms to keep IT services secure and mission-ready. Collaboration with Cybersecurity, Systems Engineers, and Support staff is essential, with patching, hardening, and documentation responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • 4–6+ years of progressively responsible systems administration or enterprise IT infrastructure experience.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required.
  • Experience with Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Experience with VMware or enterprise virtualization.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft enterprise technologies.
  • Experience performing patching, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity hardening and vulnerability remediation.
  • Ability to document SOPs and configuration records.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers and enterprise services.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, LDAP/LDAPS, and SMTP.
  • Administer Windows Server environments and Active Directory/Group Policy.
  • Support Microsoft 365 and Microsoft configurations; manage SCCM/MECM.
  • Support VMware VDI and virtualization infrastructure.
  • Perform routine system health checks and patching in line with cybersecurity directives.
  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Coordinate with Cybersecurity and Systems/Network Engineers to resolve issues.

**Systems Administrator****Full Time | Various Locations | Secret Clearance Required****Location(s): Quantico, VA / Camp Lejeune, NC / Camp Pendleton, CA / 29 Palms, CA / Hawaii / Okinawa, Japan**SteelGate is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to provide enterprise systems administration and operational support for the Government IT environment. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day installation, configuration, administration, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of servers, operating systems, virtual infrastructure, enterprise applications, and associated IT services. The customer environment includes on-premises infrastructure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure IL2 cloud services, virtualized systems, data centers, networks, applications, and end-user services. The position will work closely with Systems Engineers, Network Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Cybersecurity personnel, and Technical Support staff to maintain reliable, secure, and mission-ready IT services. Key Responsibilities • Install, configure, administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers, operating systems, applications, and associated enterprise services. • Monitor and troubleshoot network-dependent services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, LDAP/LDAPS, and SMTP. • Administer Microsoft Windows Server environments and associated infrastructure services. • Support Active Directory, Group Policy, user and computer objects, authentication, permissions, and access-control functions. • Support Microsoft 365 services and associated enterprise applications. • Administer and support Microsoft Configuration Manager and related endpoint/system-management capabilities. • Support VMware and virtual desktop infrastructure, including physical and virtual computing environments. • Perform routine system monitoring and analyze availability, capacity, performance, security, and operational health. • Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, application, authentication, connectivity, and configuration problems. • Perform server, operating system, application, and service updates and assist with patching activities required by applicable cybersecurity directives. • Support vulnerability remediation and system hardening activities in coordination with Cybersecurity personnel. • Maintain system configurations and ensure changes are implemented and documented in accordance with established configuration- and change-management processes. • Support system backup, restoration, continuity, and recovery activities. • Perform routine preventive maintenance and system-health checks. • Support installation, configuration, testing, upgrade, and deployment of new hardware and software. • Assist with technology-refresh activities and replacement of End-of-Life (EOL) and End-of-Support (EOS) systems. • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical procedures, system documentation, configuration records, and troubleshooting guides. • Prepare After Action Reports and technical documentation following significant outages, maintenance events, upgrades, or system changes when required. • Create, update, resolve, and document incidents and service requests using the Government-approved ticket-management system. • Coordinate with Technical Support personnel to resolve issues escalated beyond desktop/help-desk support. • Escalate complex engineering problems to the Senior Systems Engineer or appropriate Network, Cloud, or Cybersecurity Engineer. • Coordinate with Government and contractor technical personnel to diagnose and restore interrupted IT services. • Assist with inventory, asset accountability, and technical documentation associated with supported systems. • Provide technical assistance to users and other IT staff when required. Minimum Experience: • Must have 4–6+ years of progressively responsible systems administration or enterprise IT infrastructure experience. • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance. • Must meet applicable DoD 8140/DCWF requirements for Work Role 451 at the Intermediate proficiency level. • Experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments. • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, user accounts, permissions, and authentication services. • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining physical and virtual servers. • Experience supporting VMware or comparable enterprise virtualization technology. • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Microsoft enterprise technologies. • Experience performing system and application patching, upgrades, and maintenance. • Experience troubleshooting server hardware, operating systems, applications, network connectivity, and enterprise services. • Knowledge of system backup, restoration, and disaster-recovery practices. • Experience working with enterprise monitoring, endpoint-management, or systems-management tools. • Familiarity with cybersecurity hardening, vulnerability remediation, and configuration-management requirements. • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, troubleshooting procedures, and configuration records. • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work independently at a supported site while coordinating with geographically dispersed enterprise engineering teams.Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technical discipline. • CompTIA Security+ or comparable certification. • Microsoft certification applicable to Windows Server, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, or Azure. • VMware VCP or comparable virtualization certification. • ITIL Foundation certification or experience working in an ITIL-based environment. • Experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM). • Experience with PowerShell scripting and administrative automation. • Experience with Azure or hybrid-cloud environments. • Experience with ServiceNow or comparable enterprise ITSM platforms. • Familiarity with DISA STIGs and DoD vulnerability-management requirements. • Previous USMC, Navy, DISA, or DoD enterprise IT experience. • Experience operating within geographically dispersed enterprise environments.Job Types: Full-Time Salary: Based on experience Schedule: Monday-FridayBenefits: • 401(k) matching • Dental insurance • Health insurance • Paid time off • Professional development assistance • Vision insuranceSTEELGATE LLC is a Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that prides itself in hiring top-level Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) proven to exceed deliverable expectations.
