Job summary

STEELGATE LLC is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, deploy, and sustain large-scale enterprise networks for U.S. Government IT environments. You will install, monitor, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, wireless infrastructures, and Cisco equipment across multiple sites.

The role requires DoD Secret clearance, CCNP, and experience with security-hardening, DISA/STIGs, and network-management tooling. Geographically dispersed operations demand strong collaboration with Cyber, Cloud, and Systems

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive network administration or engineering experience.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance and CCNP certification required.
  • Experience with enterprise LAN/WAN, wireless, and VPN technologies.
  • Knowledge of DISA/STIGs, vulnerability remediation, and DoD security standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-disciplinary work.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer, configure, administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN/WAN and wireless networks.
  • Configure Cisco equipment and network-management tools; manage IP addressing and VLANs.
  • Support IPAM, connectivity for users, servers, and cloud services; coordinate with providers.
  • Provide Tier III escalation, root-cause analysis, and incident response for complex outages.
  • Maintain security baselines and participate in change-management and documentation.

**Senior Network Engineer****Full Time | Various locations | Secret Clearance Required****Location(s): Quantico, VA / Camp Pendleton, CA / Okinawa, Japan**SteelGate is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to provide enterprise network engineering, administration, sustainment, and Tier III technical support for the U.S. Government IT environment. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, configuring, maintaining, monitoring, securing, documenting, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure supporting customer operations. The position supports geographically dispersed locations and works closely with Systems Engineering, Systems Administration, Cloud Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Technical Support personnel. Key Responsibilities • Engineer, configure, administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, WAN, and wireless network infrastructure. • Configure and maintain Cisco network equipment and associated network-management technologies. • Manage and troubleshoot switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, network interfaces, VLANs, IP addressing, and related network services. • Support Internet Protocol Address Management (IPAM) and maintain accurate IP address and VLAN assignments. • Configure and maintain network access and connectivity supporting users, servers, applications, cloud services, and enterprise systems. • Support and troubleshoot DISA and commercial telecommunications circuits, including coordination with external service providers when necessary. • Open, manage, track, and resolve technical support cases with Cisco TAC and other network-equipment vendors. • Diagnose complex network outages, degraded performance, packet loss, connectivity failures, routing problems, wireless issues, and other infrastructure incidents. • Monitor network availability, utilization, capacity, performance, and security and proactively identify potential service degradation. • Perform advanced root-cause analysis of network and infrastructure incidents and recommend corrective actions. • Install and implement network device software, firmware, patches, and security updates in accordance with applicable cybersecurity directives. • Support applicable IAVA/IAVB/IAVM, STIG, vulnerability-remediation, and cybersecurity-hardening activities affecting network infrastructure. • Coordinate with Cybersecurity personnel to remediate vulnerabilities and maintain secure network configurations. • Maintain configuration baselines and participate in formal configuration- and change-management processes. • Maintain current network diagrams, architecture documentation, equipment configurations, circuit information, SOPs, troubleshooting procedures, and other technical documentation. • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and After Action Reports (AARs) for significant outages, maintenance activities, upgrades, and network incidents. • Identify network equipment approaching End-of-Life (EOL) or End-of-Support (EOS) and provide recommendations for technology refresh and replacement. • Support network equipment replacement and Return Material Authorization (RMA) activities. • Support network modernization, upgrades, migrations, installations, and technology-refresh initiatives. • Coordinate with Cable/Infrastructure Technicians concerning premise wiring, patch panels, network closets, fiber/copper connections, and physical connectivity issues. • Work with Systems Engineers and Systems Administrators to troubleshoot network-dependent services and application connectivity. • Coordinate with Cloud Engineers concerning connectivity between on-premises environments and Microsoft Azure/cloud resources. • Provide Tier III escalation support for complex network problems escalated by Systems Administrators and Technical Support personnel. • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to network, systems, and support personnel. Minimum Experience: • Must have 8+ years of progressively responsible network administration, network engineering, or enterprise infrastructure experience. • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance. • Must have a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification. • Must meet applicable DoD 8140/DCWF requirements for Work Role 441 at the Advanced proficiency level. • Demonstrated experience supporting complex enterprise LAN/WAN environments. • Advanced experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routing and switching technologies. • Experience supporting enterprise wireless network infrastructure. • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, VPNs, and network-access technologies. • Experience with network monitoring, performance analysis, fault isolation, and capacity management. • Experience troubleshooting DISA, telecommunications-provider, WAN, or comparable enterprise circuit connectivity. • Experience performing network-device patching, firmware/software upgrades, and configuration changes. • Experience implementing and maintaining secure network configurations. • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements applicable to network devices and infrastructure. • Experience with enterprise network-management and monitoring technologies. • Experience maintaining network architecture diagrams, configurations, SOPs, circuit documentation, and technical procedures. • Experience working within formal configuration-management and change-management processes. • Demonstrated ability to perform advanced network troubleshooting and root-cause analysis. • Ability to independently resolve complex technical issues and coordinate resolution across multiple engineering disciplines. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to support geographically dispersed users and infrastructure.Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related technical discipline. • CompTIA Security+, CySA+, SecurityX/CASP+, CISSP, or other certification. • Experience with Cisco Catalyst switches, routers, wireless controllers, and enterprise wireless access points. • Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) or comparable network-access-control technology. • Experience with enterprise firewalls and security appliances. • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, ACAS/Tenable findings, IAVA requirements, and DoD vulnerability-management processes. • Experience with SolarWinds or comparable network-monitoring/management platforms. • Experience supporting fiber and copper network infrastructure. • Experience with Microsoft Azure networking or hybrid cloud connectivity. • Familiarity with VPN, ExpressRoute, cloud routing, network security groups, and hybrid enterprise connectivity. • Experience with ServiceNow or another enterprise ITSM/ticketing platform. • ITIL Foundation certification or experience working within an ITIL-based service-delivery environment. • Previous USMC, Navy, DISA, or other DoD enterprise networking experience.Job Types: Full-Time Salary: Based on experience Schedule: Monday-FridayBenefits: • 401(k) matching • Dental insurance • Health insurance • Paid time off • Professional development assistance • Vision insuranceSTEELGATE LLC is a Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that prides itself in hiring top-level Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) proven to exceed deliverable expectations.
