Job summary

Tuknik Government Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, seeks a Systems Administrator to support our government customer in Carlsbad, NM. Plan, coordinate, and execute with Network engineers and Service Desk to manage enterprise IT infrastructure, ensuring availability, performance, and security across systems.

Requirements include an Associate’s Degree in CS or related field or 4 years of IT experience with 2+ years in Windows Server/AD, plus experience with Remedy/ZenDesk; U.S.

Qualifications

  • Requires Associate’s Degree in Computer Science and/or 4 years IT experience, with 2+ years in Windows server AD administration.
  • DOE/NIST 800-53 experience encouraged; ability to document and report on multiple projects.
  • Experience with Remedy/ZenDesk/Web Help Desk for workload tracking.

Job description

Tuknik Government Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Systems Administrator to support TGS and our government customer in Carlsbad, NM.

Plan, coordinate, and execute with Network engineers, Service Desk, federal staff, and the IT Operations Manager to manage and maintain enterprise-level IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across all systems. Candidates must be able to work independently under the supervision of the IT Operations Manager to plan, execute, document, and report on multiple projects and tasks.

Education:
  • Requires an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science and/or a related field or 4 years of relevant IT experience, with 2 of those years to include experience in administration of Microsoft Windows server systems in Active Directory, including Wide-Area Network (WAN) experience with forest domains.
  • The substitution of education for relevant experience is in addition to the minimum two years of relevant experience required for this labor category and must be approved by the government on a case-by-case basis.
Experience:
  • Current U.S. Citizen.
  • Candidate must possess 2 years of experience in performing IT-related customer support, including, but not limited to, help desk, NOC center, service desk, and/or remote support.
  • Experience in IT/help desk management systems such as Remedy, ZenDesk, and/or Web Help Desk to track, manage, and report on workload to management/supervisors.
  • Knowledge of DOE Order 205.1B Department of Energy Cyber Security Program and NIST 800-53 experience, including implementation methods, is highly desirable.
  • Candidate must possess 2 or more years of experience with the administration of the following:
    • Microsoft M365 Applications and services Administration.
    • Server administration to include Hyper-V and VMware server virtualization.
    • Omnissa/View Horizon desktop virtualization.
    • Hands‑on experience with blade server architecture and SAN (Storage Area Network) storage systems.
    • Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups to ensure data integrity and security.
    • Monitor system performance and implement proactive measures to prevent downtime.
    • Collaborate with network and application teams to support business‑critical systems.
    • Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
    • Provide technical support and resolve escalated issues related to servers and storage.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry best practices.
    • Two‑factor authentication, including Smart Card configuration/administration, is a must.
    • Public/Private Key Infrastructure (PKI) encryption techniques, including email encryption.
    • Wi‑Fi administration
  • Requires 4 years of experience in the administration of Microsoft M365 Exchange architecture, including VOIP integration, unified communications, as well as records management applications.
  • Extensive experience with cybersecurity best practices including Operating System baselines, CIS/USGCB benchmarking utilities, system hardening, firewall configuration, security appliance administration, and other IT‑related cyber systems as required
  • Knowledge and experience within Microsoft SCCM for third‑party patching and OS image deployment.
  • The ability to accomplish technical writing relating to infrastructure project plans, network diagrams, policy & procedure, and other types of technical documentation is highly desirable.
  • Prepare analyses and recommendations to support the procurement of IT server systems and supporting equipment. Collect, analyze, and document market research information for procurement estimates.
  • Independently troubleshoot IT systems. Analyze system, application, and security logs. Prepare/deliver written or oral reports with analyses and recommendations for upgrades and/or corrective actions.
