The Basics of a Systems Admin – Infrastructure & AI Platforms:
- Status: Full-Time, Exempt
- Schedule: Monday - Friday. Flexibility required for after-hours and occasional weekends for projects.

What you'll do as a Systems Admin – Infrastructure & AI Platforms:
Provide senior-level administration, maintenance, and support of the Credit Union’s server, endpoint, cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI) platforms, and infrastructure systems. This role ensures the secure, reliable, and efficient operation of on-premises, virtual, and cloud environments while supporting business continuity, regulatory compliance, responsible AI adoption, and a top-tier end-user experience. This role serves as a technical lead for infrastructure operations, automation, security remediation, and the administration and enablement of AI platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Systems Administration & Infrastructure Operations
- Administer, maintain, and support physical, virtual, and cloud server environments, including Windows Server, VMware ESXi, Azure virtual machines, networking, and related cloud services.
- Perform system upgrades, configuration changes, performance tuning, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle management for servers, storage, backup, and other infrastructure hardware and services.
- Administer Privileged Access Management (PAM), identity, and certificate management solutions.
- Serve as primary support for complex systems, infrastructure, authentication, networking, and application issues, providing Tier 3 escalation support and technical leadership as needed.
- Administer endpoint systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, PKI, desktops, laptops, peripherals, and related infrastructure services.
- Provide backup coverage and load balancing support for the IT Support team and participate in after-hours maintenance and on-call support as required.
Endpoint Management, Patching & Software Distribution
- Ensure desktops, laptops, servers, storage devices, and cloud resources are patched and compliant with security and regulatory requirements.
- Administer and automate software deployment and patch management tools, including Dell KACE, MECM, WSUS, Intune, Azure Arc, or equivalent technologies.
- Monitor system health, capacity, availability, and performance and proactively address issues to minimize service disruptions.
- Implement system hardening standards and security best practices across server and endpoint environments.
- Manage public and private certificates, PKI, and certificate lifecycle activities.
- Administer and support XDR, MDR, endpoint protection, and related security solutions.
- Address security findings identified through vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, internal audits, and NCUA examinations.
- Monitor, analyze, and maintain system and security logs.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and enforcement of infrastructure security policies and procedures.
- Manage enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions, including Veeam or equivalent technologies, and participate in recovery planning and testing.
Automation, Scripting & Optimization
- Develop and maintain PowerShell, Python, and other scripts to automate administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to optimize IT workflows, infrastructure performance, and system reliability.
- Assist with the design and implementation of long-term infrastructure, cloud, automation, and enterprise technology initiatives.
AI Platform Administration & Infrastructure (Approximately 20–30% Initially)
- Administer AI platforms, including user access, licensing, security controls, connectors, integrations, and administrative settings.
- Evaluate emerging AI products, vendors, and use cases; recommend and support solutions that improve productivity, efficiency, and business value.
- Partner with Information Security, Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, and other business units to ensure responsible AI adoption and alignment with NCUA, FFIEC, GLBA, organizational security requirements, and applicable governance frameworks.
- Assist in development and maintenance of AI governance standards, acceptable-use guidance, prompt governance, administrative procedures, and related documentation.
- Develop metrics including but not limited to AI platform usage, adoption, licensing utilization, security considerations, and realized business value.
- Build and support AI-enabled workflows using Microsoft Power Platform, APIs, connectors, automation tools, and related technologies.
- Develop and support AI proof-of-concept initiatives, production adoption, training, technical guidance, and organizational best practices.
- Stay current on AI technologies, large language models, security risks, governance practices, and regulatory developments.
Tools, Platforms & Enterprise Solutions
- Administer and support enterprise IT solutions including Microsoft 365 and related security solutions; Cisco Meraki, Umbrella, ISE, and other network administration tools; Azure services; enterprise backup and recovery platforms; Open AI, Claude, Microsoft Co-Pilot, AI within existing Enterprise Applications and systems management and monitoring platforms.
- Collaborate with network, security, cloud, risk, compliance, and business teams on cross-functional technology initiatives.
Documentation, Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Develop and maintain thorough technical documentation, procedures, standards, and configuration records for assigned infrastructure, cloud, automation, and AI systems.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to IT team members and business partners on supported technologies, AI tools, responsible use, and operational best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of IT and AI governance standards, documentation, security controls, and operational practices.
- Comply with the credit union Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Policy and Anti Money Laundering and Member Due Diligence Procedures. The BSA training is to be completed within 90 days of employment and annually thereafter.
- Complete compliance and career development training as assigned.

Must Haves as a Systems Admin – Infrastructure & AI Platforms:
- Skills:
- Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, PKI, and identity services administration
- VMware ESXi or similar virtualization platform administration
- Azure resources, virtual machines, networking, and cloud services administration
- Endpoint management, software distribution, and patching solutions (e.g., Dell KACE, MECM, Intune, WSUS, Azure Arc)
- Enterprise storage, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions (e.g., Veeam)
- Systems security tools, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, XDR, MDR, ATP, and antivirus solutions
- PowerShell or Python scripting and automation
- AI platform administration, AI-enabled automation, or generative AI technologies
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, customer service, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
- Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, self-motivation, and continuous learning
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive systems administration experience, including Windows Server, virtualization, enterprise backup and recovery, automation, and cloud services to include one year of experience supporting AI technologies or AI-enabled automation.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Nice to Haves as a Systems Admin – Infrastructure & AI Platforms:
- Skills:
- Familiarity with large language models and AI platforms, including OpenAI GPT, Microsoft Copilot, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or similar technologies.
- Ability to evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend secure, practical enterprise use cases that improve productivity and operational efficiency.
- Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, enterprise knowledge search, AI agents, prompt engineering, model evaluation, hallucination mitigation, and AI quality assurance.
- Experience: Experience supporting regulated or highly secure environments, preferably within a credit union or financial services organization. Experience integrating AI models with enterprise systems using APIs, connectors, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate, Azure Logic Apps, or similar tools
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate; Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert; Microsoft security certifications; AI-900 Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals; or Microsoft Applied Skills – Copilot.
