Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport, LA, is looking for a System Tester to provide hands-on support to the supervisor. You will help with test preparation, conduct tests, and record results to ensure quality in shipyard operations.

Ideal candidates have some marine testing exposure, can monitor gauges, read test equipment, and work with hand tools. You must follow all safety rules, including working in confined spaces and using respirators when required.

Qualifications

• Experience following test procedures and supervisor instructions.
• Ability to prepare, set up and monitor test systems.
• Comfort with reading gauges and test instrumentation.
• Awareness of safety policies and PPE requirements.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.

Job description

Job Title: System Tester

Location: Lockport, LA

Position Overview: A System Tester provides hands-on assistance to his assigned supervisor. Such assistance includes any and all duties required in the performance of the test function, including but not limited to, test preparation, conduct and recording of results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of shipyard testing processes, such as air, hydro and non-destructive test methods.
• Can monitor and read gauges and similar test equipment.
• Familiar with hand tools used for test set-up and monitoring.
• Can detect test problems and effect corrective action as directed.
• Able to follow orders with a minimum of supervision.

Qualifications: Six (6) months of marine or three (3) months of continuous Company experience in a similar position preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

• Follows instructions from supervisor.
• Prepares systems for structural integrity and tightness testing as directed.
• Sets up all test equipment and conducts required test functions.
• Monitors test functions and interprets results; may record data as required.
• Corrects minor test discrepancies as needed to ensure test is completed satisfactorily.
• Must be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces.
• Must be able to work/climb in elevations greater than 5'.
• Must be able to wear/work a respirator when applicable.
• Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, environmental policy, and the principles of our quality system.
