Akkodis is seeking a System Support Engineer – Sunnyvale, CA, Hybrid,for a 12-month Contract with a client in Sunnyvale, CA.

Rate Range: $45.00 - $50.00 P/HR.; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Two Key Aspects of the Role: Support & Development

1. Support

The support aspect of the role requires not only excellent communication and people skills but also a solid technical foundation to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues. The TAW will act as the first point of contact for user support, handling technical inquiries, bugs, and other small issues, while also assisting with basic data-related tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Provide 1:1 support to users, similar to a helpdesk or helpline, ensuring effective communication and problem resolution.

- Diagnose technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and provide clear, actionable solutions.

- Document and report issues with sufficient detail for the development team, including writing intelligent and precise bug reports.

- Directly resolve some technical issues or escalate them as needed.

- Assist with data management tasks, such as importing/exporting data and ensuring data integrity and quality.

Required Skills:

- Basic familiarity with programming or scripting (any language).

- Proficiency with macOS and iOS.

- Strong communication, documentation, and organisational skills.

- A genuine interest in helping others and working in a support role.

2. Development

The development aspect of the role involves enhancing and expanding our tools, particularly within the FileMaker platform. While prior experience with FileMaker isn’t required, a strong foundation in programming or scripting is necessary, as these skills will easily transfer to FileMaker with training and support. This role expects the TAW to handle smaller tasks independently

development tasks, such as bug fixes and feature enhancements, while contributing to larger development projects with guidance.

Responsibilities:

- Work with users to capture requirements, translate them into user stories, and propose development solutions for enhancements or bug fixes.

- Independently implement smaller development tasks and enhancements based on user needs and feedback.

- Contribute to developing and expanding existing FileMaker solutions, adding new features as needed.

- Collaborate with the team on larger development projects, particularly during the planning, design, and implementation phases.

Required Skills:

- General experience with software development practices, including debugging, testing, and version control.

- A basic understanding of UI/UX principles, with the ability to design user-friendly interfaces and workflows.
