Apple is seeking a System Software Engineer to advance sensing and connectivity software across Apple devices. You will design and implement kernel drivers and device software for chipsets, focusing on reliability and performance.

Work closely with hardware, firmware, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions, optimize data paths, and ensure correct lifecycle management for devices. The role requires strong C/C++ skills and hands-on debugging under tight schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer technology or related field with embedded or device software experience.
• Proven kernel driver development experience.
• Hands-on debugging on devices.
• Strong C and C++ programming skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and define the next generation of sensing and connectivity software.
• Design and develop drivers for custom hardware.
• Develop full-stack solutions for inter-chip communication schemes.
• Optimize data paths to maximize throughput and minimize latency and power.
• Design device software for chipset boot and lifecycle control.
• Deploy connectivity chipsets on new systems.
• Triage and debug client-critical issues.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and product teams.
• Implement kernel drivers for large operating systems.
• Demonstrate deep expertise in C and C++.
• Familiarity with buses such as UART, USB, SPI, PCIe.
• Lead multiple initiatives across groups and deliver on time.
