Job summary

Apple’s Sensing & Connectivity Engineering team is looking for a software engineer to design and build the next generation of sensing and connectivity products across iPhone, iPad, AirPods, Apple Watch, Mac, Apple TV, HomePod, AirTag, and more. The role focuses on kernel driver development, embedded firmware, and real‑time device debugging using C/C++.

Responsibilities include architecting and defining next‑gen sensing solutions, designing drivers for custom hardware, and laying out full‑stack

Qualifications

• Experience implementing kernel drivers for major operating systems.
• Extensive knowledge of C and C++.
• Deep interest in device programming concepts (memory and process control).
• Familiarity with buses, including UART/USB/SPI/PCIe.
• Ability to deliver on time under tight schedules.
• Strong analytical, programming, and debugging skills.
• Leadership experience managing projects across multiple groups.
• Drive toward robust, efficient solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect and define next-gen sensing and connectivity solutions.
• Design and develop drivers for custom hardware.
• Layout full-stack solutions for inter-chip communication schemes.
• Optimize stop-to-give up information routes to maximize throughput, reduce packet latency, decrease CPU usage, and lower power consumption.
• Design system software for chipset boot and lifecycle management.
• Deploy and troubleshoot connectivity chipsets on new platforms.
• Triage and debug customer-critical issues.
• Work closely with cross-functional hardware, firmware, and OS teams.
