Job summary

The Intersect Group seeks a System Security Administrator to join our infrastructure and cybersecurity team. You will identify, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities across on‑premises and cloud environments, working hands‑on with Windows, Azure, VMware, and security remediation.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of enterprise systems administration experience, strong collaboration with cybersecurity teams, and a proactive approach to remediation and patch management.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or a similar role.
• Hands-on Microsoft Azure experience.
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, and virtualization.
• Proven vulnerability remediation and security patch management.
• Hands-on Qualys experience required.
• Strong change management and production support knowledge.
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration.
• Experience in regulated or security-focused environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Remediate vulnerabilities identified by Qualys and other security tools.
• Apply patches and OS updates to mitigate risks.
• Remediate across servers, virtualization, networking, storage, and cloud infrastructure.
• Manage Windows Server environments on-premises and in Azure.
• Administer VMware infrastructure including VDI environments.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to remediate within SLAs.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues across servers, network, storage, virtualization, and cloud.
• Support Active Directory and Entra ID.
• Assist with network troubleshooting of switches, routers, firewalls.
• Follow change management and production support processes.
• Participate in after-hours patching and upgrades.

Job description

We are seeking a System Security Administrator to join a growing infrastructure and cybersecurity team responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and remediating vulnerabilities across enterprise environments. This role is ideal for a hands‑on systems professional with strong Windows, Azure, VMware, and security remediation experience who enjoys solving complex infrastructure and security challenges.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise systems administration and be comfortable working closely with cybersecurity teams to drive vulnerability remediation efforts across on‑premises and cloud environments.

What You'll Do

• Research, evaluate, and implement remediation solutions for vulnerabilities identified through Qualys and other security tools.
• Apply security patches, operating system updates, registry changes, and configuration modifications to mitigate security risks.
• Perform remediation activities across server, virtualization, networking, storage, and cloud infrastructure environments.
• Manage and support Windows Server environments across both on‑premises and Microsoft Azure platforms.
• Administer and troubleshoot VMware infrastructure, including virtual servers and VDI environments.
• Work closely with cybersecurity teams to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities within established SLAs.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure‑related issues involving servers, networking, storage, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
• Support and maintain Active Directory, Entra ID, and enterprise authentication services.
• Assist with network troubleshooting involving switches, routers, firewalls, and connectivity issues.
• Follow established change management and production support processes for all infrastructure modifications.
• Participate in occasional after‑hours maintenance activities related to patching, upgrades, and infrastructure changes.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator, Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar role.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Advanced troubleshooting experience with:
• Windows Server
• Active Directory
• Networking
• VMware and virtualization technologies
• Strong experience administering VMware environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure in production environments.
• Proven experience with vulnerability remediation and security patch management.
• Hands‑on experience with Qualys is required.
• Ability to independently research, evaluate, and implement solutions for newly identified vulnerabilities.
• Understanding of change management, production support, and infrastructure best practices.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with infrastructure and cybersecurity teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with endpoint and security solutions such as CrowdStrike or SentinelOne.
• Experience with Cisco networking technologies.
• Experience supporting firewalls, routers, switches, and network infrastructure.
• Experience with Azure Active Directory / Entra ID.
• Experience supporting VDI and enterprise storage environments.
• Previous experience in highly regulated or security‑focused environments.
• MSP experience is a plus.
