Shape the Future of Military Aviation Safety

Join a high-impact engineering team at the forefront of aviation innovation. As a System Safety Engineer on the Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) program, you’ll be instrumental in advancing safety-critical systems that support one of the U.S. military’s most groundbreaking rotorcraft platforms.

This is more than a role—it's a mission-critical opportunity to ensure the safety and success of the next generation of vertical lift technology.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll apply your expertise in both military and civil aviation safety standards to:

  • Lead and execute system safety engineering tasks throughout the full product lifecycle—from hazard identification and requirements analysis to testing and verification

  • Perform advanced safety assessments including:

    • Aircraft & System Functional Hazard Assessments (AFHA/SFHA)

    • Preliminary/System Safety Assessments (PSSA/SSA)

    • Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA), Particular Risk Analysis (PRA), and Common Mode Analysis (CMA)

    • MIL-STD-882 analyses such as PHA, SHA, SSHA, O&SHA, HHA, SAR, and FMECA

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to identify and mitigate system risks

  • Prepare and present safety documentation to internal leadership and external stakeholders

  • Utilize model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and model-based safety analysis (MBSA) tools to support analysis and traceability

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (engineering, science, technology, or math)

  • 2+ years of experience supporting structured safety programs in aerospace or defense

  • In-depth knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and SAE ARP-4761/ARP-4754 safety processes

  • Experience in safety assessments and analysis across the software and system lifecycle (e.g. DO-178C, AMCOM385-17)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in highly integrated systems

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and collaborate across teams

  • Must be eligible for Secret Security Clearance

  • This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline

  • Experience in model-based safety analysis (MBSA)

  • Familiarity with rotary-wing or military aircraft systems

  • Background as a military aviator, aircraft technician, or similar aviation-related experience

Why You’ll Love Working Here

This is a rare opportunity to combine technical challenge, mission impact, and work-life balance in a single role. Here’s what makes this position stand out:
