Job summary

ASML in Wilton, CT, is seeking a Proto Engineer to join the Foundation Proto Operations team. You will test and integrate systems, maintain test rigs, and drive improvements in design and process for pilot production. You will mentor peers and ensure uptime of complex top and module test rigs.

The role requires a BS in a technical field with 2+ years of experience, plus troubleshooting skills and ownership. On-site 3rd shift (10pm–6:30am) with a 15% differential is included.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in a technical field (Mechanical, Software, Electrical, Mechatronics) and 2+ years of experience.
  • MS preferred in relevant technical field.
  • Able to work unsupervised with high sense of ownership.
  • Troubleshooting experience with complex systems.
  • Basic knowledge of how subsystems interact with other subsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate D&E test rigs for new product qualification, integration and issue resolution.
  • Review and contribute to test plans to ensure efficient use of the test rig.
  • Ensure tests are executed by following test plans and procedures.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and report issues in the module design to improve system performance.
  • Assist integration, build in/build out, and troubleshoot activities on test rigs.
  • Provide technical support to other D&E engineers as a generalist.
  • Monitor test rig performance within set parameters.
  • Keep test rig hardware and software configurations up to date.
  • Transfer machine status and issue lists to the next shift.
  • Ensure safe working environment and follow 5S principles.
  • Guide and mentor peers, own issues and drive progress on test rigs.

Introduction to the job

Within ASML, the sector of Development & Engineering (D&E) is responsible for the specification and the design of ASML products. The Proto Operations team in the Foundation support the Top and Module integrations with (sub-)system level Test-Rigs; drive the planning of these test activities; report on status and progress; maintain and drive the configurations and needed adjustments to the Test-Rigs; Ensure an integral test-rig roadmap for Wilton D&E.

Role and responsibilities

As a Proto Engineer you will be part of an interdisciplinary team, of the Foundation Proto Operations team that tests and integrates our systems. Our Wilton prototype modules consists of an intricate network of optics, electronics, mechatronics, and control systems. Your role as a Proto Engineer is key to building a better product though testing, issue identification and resolution, and finding potential design and process improvements.Be expert on Top module and system operations and troubleshooting to optimize uptime availability and minimize downtime. For operating and maintaining test rigs used for design qualification, integration, reliability, and issue resolution. Also contribute towards an optimal design for the complete product and the creation of the product documentation necessary for pilot production.

Education and experience
  • BS degree in technical field(Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics) and 2+ years of experience.
  • MS preferred in relevant technical field.
  • Able to work unsupervised with high sense of ownership.
  • Troubleshooting experience with complex systems.
  • Basic knowledge of how different sub-system interacts to other sub-systems.

Other information
  • This is a 3rd shift position and the work hours will be 10pm to 6:30am. There is a 15% differential increase in compensation that is associated with 3rd shift.
  • This position is located on-site. It requires onsite presence.
  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • May require travel (domestic and/or international) dependent on business needs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
