Job summary

Apple Inc. in Austin, Texas, is seeking a highly qualified engineer to design and validate thermal solutions for high-volume consumer devices.

You will develop and prototype thermal modules and cooling fans, and determine methods to attach modules to SoCs to optimize performance and reliability. The role requires a Master’s degree in engineering and experience with CAD-driven 2D drawings, hot/cold chain analysis, and manufacturability considerations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 2 years of experience.
• Creating 2D mechanical drawings using CAD software to communicate designs to external vendors.
• Experience with manufacturing methods such as injection molding, stamping, forging, die casting, CNC.
• Knowledge of statics and mechanical structures with innovative design experience.
• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, SPC or Cp/Cpk methods.
• Heat transfer and thermal management experience for high-volume consumer products.

Description

APPLE INC has the following available in Austin, Texas. Dimension and determine the tolerance of engineering drawings with high volume mass production. Review test and measurement data from engineering builds and iterate it on test definition as necessary to ensure design feasibility. Maintain awareness of state-of-the-art thermal and air moving technologies and determining which concepts may be worthy to pursue. Develop and prototype innovative thermal module and cooling fan concepts using analysis and first principles engineering. Determine methods to attach thermal modules to SoC's to optimize performance and reliability. 40 hours/week.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
• Experience and/or education must include:
• Creating 2D mechanical drawings using CAD software to adequately communicate designs to external module vendors.
• Experience in the design of mechanical parts including experience with any of the following manufacturing methods: injection molding, stamping, forging, die casting, CNC
• Demonstrating knowledge of statics and mechanical structures with a track record of developing innovative designs.
• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, Statistical Process Control or Cp/Cpk methodologies.
• Heat transfer as a requirement and experience with parts designed for thermal management
• Experience in design for high volume consumer products.
• Design experience with any of the following: cooling fans, thermal modules, vapor chambers.
