Job summary

PACCAR, Inc. is seeking a System Performance Verification Engineer in the United States, WA area, to define and execute verification and testing activities for engine aftertreatment in vehicle and lab environments.

You will collaborate with Engine Integration, OBD calibration and Vehicle Integration teams to ensure successful integration and data collection. The role requires 3+ years of engineering experience, a BS in engineering, and knowledge of diesel emissions and aftertreatment

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant engineering work experience.
  • BS in Engineering; MS preferred.
  • Understanding of heavy-duty diesel emissions and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of DOC, DPF, SCR & DEF.
  • Experience with engine calibration and data collection tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% (incl. international).

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Define and execute verification, and testing activities to support engine aftertreatment development in vehicle and in the test cell environment
  • Collaboration with Engine Integration, OBD calibration and Vehicle Integration teams to successfully integrate aftertreatment functions
  • Recommend, develop, and execute continuous process improvement to improve product quality, reliability, and durability of the PACCAR engine aftertreatment system
  • Complete reports and presentations to communicate findings, draw conclusions and give recommendations on the next steps
  • Stay aware of new and upcoming aftertreatment technologies and testing methods
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with other groups at the PACCAR Technical Center and other PACCAR divisions
Qualifications & Skills
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering work experience in a related field
  • B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical), Computer Science, or related discipline (MS preferred)
  • Understanding of heavy-duty diesel emissions regulatory requirements including diagnostics
  • Understanding of current diesel exhaust aftertreatment technology (DOC, DPF, SCR & DEF)
  • Knowledge of engine control system strategies and how they pertain to diesel engine and aftertreatment systems
  • Scripting and data analysis experience using MATLAB, Python or Minitab desired
  • Experience with engine test cell/vehicle data collection, analysis and test planning is preferred
  • Experience with engine calibration, data collection tools (ATI Vision/Vector Canape, Cummins Calterm/ETAS INCA & Vector CANalyzer) and engine control systems
  • Must be self-directed; possess excellent analysis, communication, and presentation skills; must be organized and take a rigorous approach to engineering projects
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to manage personal workload and have the willingness, flexibility, and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands
  • Ability to travel up to 15%, including international travel
