Job summary

PACCAR is seeking a Senior ECU Test Engineer to lead Hardware in the Loop (HiL) testing of ECUs developed by PACCAR Electronics. You will coordinate with the product development team to improve quality through innovative testing while meeting program schedules, budgets, and customer expectations.

The role requires collaboration across software, electrical and control system disciplines, plus mentoring of junior testers and a drive to advance test automation and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related engineering experience, incl. 3+ years in vehicle software testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, CS, or related field.
• Strong problem solving with lean or six sigma.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%, including international travel.

Responsibilities

• Ensure requirements are covered by defined test cases while ensuring quality.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of software development, electrical engineering, control system development, information technology and other test engineers.
• Lead test planning and execution within area of responsibility.
• Provide technical mentorship to develop test engineers on team.
• Identify and lead implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and efficiency, including increasing test automation.

Job Responsibilities

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of professional experience in a related engineering field, including 3 or more years in a vehicle software development or testing role.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, managing multiple projects and adapting to shifting priorities.
• Experience solving complex technical problems using lean or six sigma methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel up to 10%, including internationally.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Experience with design & release of automotive or commercial vehicle systems.
• Experience testing software against requirements using virtualization and/or automation.
• Experience implementing AI into product development or testing processes.
• Experience with Automotive SPICE (Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination) framework.
• Experience with ISO26262.
• Advanced degree or Professional Engineer license.
