Communication Technology Services (CTS) is seeking a System Performance Engineer I to support the Southern California region, with 90% field travel. The role includes site surveys, commissioning, and ongoing optimization of DAS and related wireless systems.

Job description

Communication Technology Services (CTS) is one of the largest integrators and managed service providers for enterprise cellular networks in the U.S., specializing in the design, installation and support of Distributed Antenna System (DAS), Small Cell, and 4G/5G Private Wireless Networks for Enterprise. We are seeking a System Performance Engineer to support our Southern California region. This position includes regional travel 90% IN THE FIELD.

We are open to System Performance Engineer I candidates with some DAS experience or Entry level Junior System Performance Engineer candidates who will receive on-the-job training. Pay will be commensurate with experience

System Performance Engineer I

System Performance Engineer I – is an entry level or junior position and generally in the process of being trained to take on the responsibilities of the job. This position will typically be put into a paired responsibility with a System Performance Engineer. On-site activity will include; Benchmark Data Collection. Post Deployment Data Collection, Commissioning Activity, and Basic Troubleshooting. There will be heavy emphasis on rapid learning and assessment of skills so that the individual can be sent off to remote locations and trusted to complete a project on their own.

Responsible for:

• Repeater Commissioning and Optimization
• DAS Commissioning & Optimization
• Performing Site Surveys
• BM and Post Installation Data Collection
• Troubleshooting Basic Systems
• Data Packing according to existing standards
• Customer Service
• Weekly Reports/Updates
• Current understanding of DAS OEM Toplogies including but not limited to, Corning MobileAccess, Commscope, Solid, TE, Teko, Dali, Zinwave, ADRF, and CSI
• Learning all wireless technologies such as GSM, CDMA, EVDO, UMTS, LTE, WiFi
• Basic understanding of standard test equipment including, but not limited to, Spectrum Analyzers, OTDRs, VFL, Power Meters, Transmitters, Scanning Receivers
• Creation of rack elevations and fiber diagrams
• Performing pre-design CW Testing
• Setting up remote access and alarming for repeaters and DAS
• Keeping current with all WSP commissioning standards
• Learning all relevant RF math to enable a full understanding of DAS design, commissioning, and optimization

Requirements:

Experience:

Basic Knowledge of Computers
1 year in a wireless or other technology related field.

Education:

High school + 2 Years Technical or equivalent
Working towards a degree

Hourly rate $23 - 26 per hour commensurate with experience
