Job summary

RBR-Technologies is a small service-disabled veteran-owned IT business delivering mission success in Maryland. We seek a System Engineer to support cryptographic device certification with IASRD/SERD experience and NSA coordination.

You will document, test, and coordinate across DoDAF/SOA architectures and customer stakeholders. The role requires TS/SCI with polygraph, DoD/IC experience, and a track record in high‑assurance product certification.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to brief stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system security analyses, risk assessments, and compliance reviews against IASRD/SERD.
  • Document findings and recommend design adjustments for certification success.
  • Coordinate with design/development teams to integrate cryptographic requirements early in the system lifecycle.
  • Define, plan, and execute security testing in coordination with NSA authorities.
  • Develop verification methods to ensure devices meet performance and security standards.
  • Support lab and field testing of cryptographic devices and document results for submission.
  • Liaise between contractor engineering teams and customer stakeholders.
  • Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents including system engineering specs and interface control documents.
  • Coordinate resolution of action items from reviews and meetings requiring cross-discipline coordination.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities.

RBR-Technologies is seeking a System Engineer to support one of our customers in Maryland.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the certification of cryptographic high assurance devices and experience with High Assurance products and IASRD/SERD requirements.

Some of the responsibilities associated with the position include (but are not limited to):

  • Perform system security analyses, risk assessments, and compliance reviews of contractor deliverables against the Information Assurance Security Requirements Directive (IASRD) and the Security Evaluation Requirements Document (SERD)
  • Document findings and recommend design adjustments or process improvements to ensure certification success
  • Coordinate with design/development teams to integrate cryptographic requirements early in the system lifecycle
  • Define, plan, and execute security testing and validation activities in coordination with NSA certification authorities
  • Develop verification methods to ensure devices meet performance and security standards.
  • Support lab and field testing of cryptographic devices, documenting results for certification submission
  • Serve as a liaison between the contractor's engineering team and customer stakeholders

Additional responsibilities associated with the position include:

  • Preparing, reviewing, revising, and maintaining technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation.
  • Managing system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that are compatible with the defined system architecture(s) - Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Service-oriented Architecture (SOA), etc
  • Contributing to the development of sections of systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements specifications, and Interface Control Documents
  • Coordinating the resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that require cross-discipline coordination
  • Participating in an Integrated Product Team to design new capabilities based upon evaluation of all necessary development and operational considerations
REQUIREMENTS
  • This role can be hired at a level 2 or 3
    • Level 2: 14 years experience
    • Level 3: 20 years experience
  • Bachelors degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. 5 additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • TS/SCI with polygraph
  • Hands-on experience supporting the certification process for cryptographic or high-assurance devices
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of the Information Assurance Security Requirements Directive (IASRD) and Security Evaluation Requirements Document (SERD) to enforce compliance
  • Strong background in high assurance products and related security standards
  • Ability to translate certification requirements into engineering artifacts, test plans, and compliance documentation
  • Proven ability to conduct system security testing, verification, and validation in accordance with NSA certification requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing technical documentation and delivering briefings to stakeholders
  • System Engineer 2 and 3 candidates should have demonstrated systems engineering experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms, key management systems, and secure communication protocols
  • Prior experience developing or certifying High Assurance products (e.g., TACLANE, KG-series devices, KMI components)
