Job description

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is actively seeking engineering, professional, technical, and administrative support personnel for a staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas.

Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor, and will receive day‑to‑day direction and assignments from Y‑12 staff. AIS will provide pay, benefits, Human Resources, and employment management functions.

Qualified applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and able to satisfy pre‑employment requirements including physicals, drug screening, and background investigation for DOE clearance.

Responsibilities

• Expected work schedule: Monday‑Thursday, 40 hrs/week with potential for occasional overtime.
• Support new machining center installations and/or existing machining production operations through configuration management activities, paperwork, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Provide troubleshooting and improvement activities.
• Apply systems and equipment expertise to resolve technical system and equipment issues in cooperation with related disciplines.
• Experience in a NRC or DOE regulated environment is desirable; understanding Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for nuclear regulated facilities is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees.
• Willingness to work in a production environment.
• Experience in Integrated Safety Management is a plus.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited BS degree in an engineering discipline plus 5+ years of relevant professional experience, or an MS degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Additional experience is preferred.
• Q clearance required.
• Systems and equipment experience in mechanical and electrical systems is preferred.
• Pre‑employment drug screen required for external applicants.
• Medical exam(s) may be required for this position.
