A Systems Engineer II (MS), formulates and defines specifications for operating systems based on company and industry standards. Modifies and supports complex, existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents operating environments associated with operating systems, clinical and business specific applications. Maintains applications dealing with operating systems involving maintenance routines, and critical and business software packages. Manages upgrades to systems software and applications supporting current release levels. Strong knowledge and experience working with M365 applications, Azure Active Directory, and servers hosted in AWS and Azure. The Microsoft System Engineer role involves managing and supporting Microsoft-based systems, networks, and infrastructure within an organization. Your primary responsibilities revolve around designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft server and client operating systems, applications, and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • System Design and Implementation: You will be involved in designing and deploying Microsoft-based systems, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange Server, Teams, and other related technologies. This includes planning, configuring, and advancing the infrastructure to meet the organization's requirements.
  • System Administration: You will handle day-to-day administration tasks, such as user management, access controls, system monitoring, and performance tuning. This involves ensuring system availability, security, and efficient operation.
  • System Maintenance and Upgrades: You will handle patch management, system updates, and upgrades. This includes evaluating new releases, testing compatibility, and implementing updates to keep the systems secure and up to date.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: You will investigate and resolve technical issues related to Microsoft systems and services. This may involve analyzing system logs, diagnosing network connectivity problems, resolving application compatibility issues, or troubleshooting hardware failures.
  • Security and Compliance: You will implement and enforce security measures to protect Microsoft systems from unauthorized access, data breaches, and malware. This includes configuring firewalls, implementing security policies, conducting vulnerability assessments, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: You will develop and support backup strategies and disaster recovery plans for Microsoft systems. This involves regularly backing up critical data, testing recovery procedures, and ensuring business continuity in case of a system failure or disaster.
  • Collaboration and Documentation: You will collaborate with other IT (Information Technology) teams and departments to integrate Microsoft systems with other infrastructure components. Additionally, you will document system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and support future troubleshooting or upgrades.
  • Continuous Learning: You will stay updated with the latest Microsoft technologies, best practices, and industry trends. This includes achieving certifications, attending training programs, and taking part in professional development activities.
  • Familiarity with Citrix technologies including design, support, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Okta implementing, supporting, and growing to include the use of Workflows to enhance HRaaM.
