Job summary

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of professional systems administration, or 5+ years at mid-senior level.
• Experience with virtualization platforms and infra virtualization platforms including the listed tools.
• Experience with infrastructure as code practices for automated provisioning.
• Knowledge of capacity planning methodologies and tools for forecasting infrastructure needs.

System Engineer

Remote (Based at an approved local secure facility). We work US time zones and ask that you're available during those hours, even if that means adjusting your schedule.

About The Role

This role exists to design, deploy, and maintain systems infrastructure that reliably supports organizational operations. You will optimize system performance and plan capacity to ensure systems scale efficiently as demand grows. Your work is highly autonomous—you make decisions about architecture and optimization strategies. The team is internationally distributed and works primarily asynchronously through documentation and recorded updates. You own the reliability and efficiency of systems that the organization depends on.

What You'll Do

• Design system architectures using virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, KVM, OpenStack) that meet performance and scalability requirements.
• Optimize system performance through configuration tuning, resource allocation, and monitoring to ensure efficient operations.
• Plan infrastructure capacity using capacity planning tools to forecast growth and ensure systems support future demand.
• Implement automation solutions using infrastructure as code to standardize deployments and reduce manual configuration work.

What We're Looking For

• Knowledge of system architecture design principles and best practices for infrastructure design.
• Experience optimizing system performance through tuning, monitoring, and resource management.
• Proficiency with virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, KVM, or OpenStack.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools and practices for automated system provisioning.
• Knowledge of capacity planning methodologies and tools for forecasting infrastructure needs.
• Between 1-5 years of professional systems administration experience, or 5+ years at mid-senior level.
