Job summary

Ourclient, a world leader in life sciences and biotechnology, seeks a System Engineer in Santa Clara, CA, to support next-generation sequencing and sample preparation platforms in a fast-paced laboratory.

You will troubleshoot across hardware, software, and assay levels, perform failure analyses, and collaborate with engineering, assay, instrument, and reagent teams to drive reliability and improvements. A Bachelor’s degree and 1–2+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
• 1–2+ years of experience troubleshooting complex systems or laboratory instrumentation.
• Experience with microfluidics, liquid handlers, diagnostic systems, or NGS platforms preferred.
• Knowledge of sequencing methodologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

Overview:

Client is seeking a System Engineer to support next-generation sequencing and sample preparation platforms through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, testing, and system reliability improvements. This role involves working cross-functionally with engineering, assay, instrument, and reagent teams in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot sequencing and sample prep systems at hardware, software, and assay levels
• Perform failure analysis, root cause investigations, and defect resolution
• Execute experiments, testing, and validation activities
• Support system reliability, performance improvements, and instrument development
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and implement solutions

• Maintain accurate technical documentation and records

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
