Job summary

Siemens Healthineers is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, implement, and support PLC-based systems across manufacturing operations in the United States. You will work with Rockwell and Siemens platforms, configure SCADA (AVEVA), and ensure robust, compliant automation solutions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and hands-on experience with ControlLogix, S7/TIA Portal, AVEVA SCADA, and industrial communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix and Siemens S7/TIA Portal systems.
• Experience with AVEVA SCADA platforms.
• Strong understanding of Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC, and Modbus.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, P&IDs, control schematics, and technical specs.
• Experience debugging complex manufacturing and process control systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and implement PLC-based automation solutions to meet operational and business requirements.
• Develop detailed control system architectures, functional specifications, and programming standards.
• Configure and integrate automation hardware, software, and network components into complete operating systems.
• Program, troubleshoot, modify, and optimize PLC applications using Allen Bradley (Rockwell Automation) and Siemens platforms.
• Diagnose and resolve issues within existing control systems, including PLC, HMI, network, and field device communications.
• Develop new PLC code and enhance existing applications to improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Design, configure, and support SCADA systems (AVEVA) for monitoring, alarming, reporting, and process visualization.
• Integrate PLCs, SCADA systems, manufacturing systems, databases, and third-party equipment to ensure seamless operation.
• Perform system testing, commissioning, validation, and startup activities for new and modified automation systems.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including functional specifications, electrical/control narratives, network diagrams, and software change records.
• Support manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and operations teams in troubleshooting production issues and implementing process improvements.
• Participate in project planning, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful project execution and system deployment.
• Ensure automation systems comply with company standards, cybersecurity requirements, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience programming and supporting Allen Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix and Siemens S7/TIA Portal systems.
• Experience with AVEVA SCADA platforms.
• Strong understanding of industrial communications, including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC, and Modbus.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, control schematics, and technical specifications.
• Experience troubleshooting complex manufacturing and process control systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MES systems such as TrakSYS.
• Knowledge of batch control, and manufacturing data collection systems.
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity standards and best practices.
• Experience leading automation projects from design through implementation and startup.

The base pay range for this position is: $114,920 - $158,015. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company’s plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
