Asterism IT Solutions in Hazelwood, MO is seeking an experienced System Engineer to own system requirements and drive SDLC activities for AWS-based product development.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in system/software engineering, hands-on AWS with ECS, RDS, Lambda, S3, EC2, IAM, SSM, CloudWatch, and strong C# and/or Python coding, plus REST APIs, ORM, and Docker/CI/CD experience. You will collaborate across Regulatory, QA, Manufacturing and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of system/software engineering experience.
  • Hands-on AWS with ECS, RDS, Lambda, S3, EC2, IAM, SSM, CloudWatch.
  • Strong programming experience with C# and/or Python.
  • REST APIs and ORM experience.
  • Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Docker, CI/CD, Jenkins.
  • Strong PostgreSQL with data/ETL knowledge.
  • SDLC and product development understanding.
  • Experience creating SyRS, PRD, RTM.
  • Regulatory/compliance experience.
  • Cross-functional collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support product development and SDLC activities.
  • Define and maintain system and product requirements.
  • Ensure requirements traceability through RTM.
  • Support regulatory and compliance activities.
  • Drive issue resolution and participate in design reviews.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced System Engineer with strong expertise in AWS, software/system engineering, product development, requirements management, and cross-functional coordination.

The ideal candidate will have experience owning system requirements, requirements traceability, SDLC activities, and working closely with Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of System / Software Engineering experience
  • Strong hands-on AWS experience with:
    • ECS
    • RDS
    • Lambda
    • S3
    • EC2
    • IAM
    • SSM
    • CloudWatch
  • Strong programming experience with C# and/or Python
  • REST APIs and ORM
  • Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi

  • Strong understanding of SDLC and Product Development
  • Experience creating and managing:
    • System Requirements Specifications (SyRS)
    • Product Requirements Documents (PRD)

  • Requirements traceability and Regulatory/Compliance experience
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and coordination
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in regulated industries, especially medical devices
  • AWS cloud-based product development
  • Experience working with Hardware, Software, and Systems R&D
  • Collaboration with QA, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain
  • Experience coordinating onsite and offshore delivery teams
  • Experience leading design reviews and issue resolution
  • FDA / medical-device processes

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
