Job summary

Anduril Industries, a defense technology leader, is seeking a Systems Engineer for our factory systems team to build and maintain the mission-critical on-premises infrastructure that powers our connected factories.

You will own the full lifecycle of the stack—from rack and VMware to storage and hybrid cloud management with Azure Arc, Entra ID, and Terraform—enabling secure, scalable, high‑availability operations in a high-stakes manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of IT infrastructure engineering with a focus on on-premises systems (servers, storage, networking, virtualization).
• Expert-level VMware vSphere experience and enterprise virtualization proficiency.
• Experience with Entra ID join environments and migrating away from traditional Active Directory dependencies.
• Proficiency using Azure as a management plane for on-prem resources (Azure Arc, Azure Policy, Azure Monitor, Azure Files).
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, IAM, VPC, S3) for hybrid or cloud-managed infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience administering Pure Storage and NetApp ONTAP SAN/NAS solutions.
• Scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation.
• Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, load balancing) and enterprise storage familiarity.
• Datacenter or colocation build-out experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the full stack of on-premises factory infrastructure—from server provisioning to storage configuration and DR planning.
• Design, deploy, and manage a primarily on-premises environment joined with Entra ID and governed via Azure-based controls.
• Leverage hybrid cloud tools like Azure Arc and Terraform/Ansible for IaC-driven provisioning and governance.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and outages to maintain factory uptime.
• Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams and document infrastructure designs and procedures.

About the Role

Anduril is seeking a Systems Engineer for our factory systems team to build and maintain the mission-critical technology stack that powers our connected factories. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our on-premises infrastructure, from racking servers to deploying virtualized workloads, using a modern, cloud-managed approach. You will have the opportunity to work with some of the world's best engineers, implementing cutting-edge systems in complex, high-stakes manufacturing environments.

What You’ll Do

• Build and Maintain Factory Infrastructure: Take ownership of the full stack of on-premises infrastructure supporting factory operations, including physical server stand-up, hypervisor installation (VMware), storage pool configuration, disaster recovery planning, and patch management.
• Implement a Modern Hybrid Environment: Design, deploy, and manage a primarily on-premises infrastructure that is Entra ID-joined and managed through an Azure control plane.
• Leverage Hybrid Cloud Technologies: Use tools such as Azure Arc for server management, Azure Files and AWS S3 for storage, and Azure Subscriptions/Resource Groups for governance and organization of on-prem assets.
• Automate Everything: Champion an Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) approach to automate provisioning, configuration, and management using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Ensure Performance and Reliability: Monitor, maintain, and optimize critical infrastructure, including high-performance storage (Pure Storage, NetApp, VAST Data) and virtual environments (VMware, VDI).
• Troubleshoot and Resolve: Act as the escalation point for complex infrastructure issues and outages to maintain factory uptime.
• Collaborate and Document: Work with development, security, and operations teams to support application deployment and maintain clear documentation of infrastructure designs and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, with a strong, demonstrable focus on on-premises systems (servers, storage, networking, virtualization).
• Expert-level knowledge of the VMware vSphere suite of products.
• Hands-on experience architecting or managing Entra ID-only join environments and migrating away from traditional Active Directory dependencies.
• Proficiency using Azure as a management plane for on-prem resources (Azure Arc, Azure Policy, Azure Monitor, Azure Files).
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, IAM, VPC, S3) for hybrid or cloud-managed infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience administering Pure Storage and NetApp (ONTAP) SAN/NAS solutions.
• Experience with automation and scripting in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, load balancing) and enterprise storage technologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Datacenter or colocation build-out experience.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., GitLab CI).
• Experience with Linux configuration and administration.

US Salary Range $132,000 — $175,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
