Amazon Leo is seeking a System Development Engineer (SysDE II) to architect and deploy solutions that bridge plant-floor equipment with MES, enabling real-time data flow across OT and IT stacks in a satellite manufacturing facility.
You will build dashboards, AI-enabled workflows, and automation for predictive maintenance and quality, working with PLCs, SCADA, and industrial networks, while collaborating across controls, manufacturing, and network teams.
Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we've designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
We are seeking an innovative and solution-oriented System Development Engineer (SysDE II) to join our team to develop solutions that integrate machines and equipment with enterprise manufacturing systems, build custom manufacturing applications, and deploy applied AI within an active satellite manufacturing facility. This role combines hardware, software, OT and IT stack development to connect plant-floor assets with enterprise platforms, create purpose-built applications that streamline production workflows, and build intelligent solutions that unlock value from manufacturing data.
In this position, you will primarily work on integrating machines, robots, PLCs, SCADA systems, and production equipment with enterprise systems such as MES (Manufacturing Execution System), enabling real-time data flow between the shop floor and higher-level business systems. You will build custom manufacturing applications such as operations dashboards, digital work instructions, traceability tools, and production monitoring systems tailored to the unique needs of satellite manufacturing. You will also design and deploy applied AI solutions that leverage equipment and process data to drive predictive maintenance, automated quality inspection, process optimization, and intelligent manufacturing workflows. The ideal candidate will have direct hands-on experience connecting industrial equipment (PLCs, SCADA, Torque Tools, CNC machines) to enterprise manufacturing systems (MES), developing custom applications for manufacturing environments, building applied AI solutions for production use cases, or deploying industrial connectivity and data integration solutions using modern DevOps practices at scale.
