Amazon in Redmond, WA is seeking a Sys Dev Engineer to support OTA updates and ground/space software deployment for satellite programs. You will collaborate with Development, Product, and Support teams on high‑impact production operations and incident triage.
You will work on space operations, build automation tools, and fix issues in Python/Go code, while ensuring reliability across the constellation and on‑ground labs. This role is full‑time and on-site in the USA.
Project LEO is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low‑latency, high‑speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Have you wanted an opportunity to develop software for an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The Infrastructure for Over the Air software delivery Engineering (IOTA) team owns the software delivery to all Kuiper assets, including satellites and ground stations, and their configurations.
The systems we build play a fundamental role in the successful operation of the satellite constellation. These systems must exhibit mission‑critical reliability, uptime, and performance.
Export Control Requirement: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or qualified asylum seeker.
The Sys Dev Engineer supports the suite of software applications and services that update software on the constellation of satellites on the ground and in orbit. Your support will affect customers directly. High‑impact production operations and issue triaging require coordination between Development, Product, and Support teams, giving you exposure to multiple stakeholders.
Primary responsibilities include:
Provide operations support with OTA deployments performed in space, ensuring code quality in releases that meet mandatory performance standards on launch pads, in space, and during provisioning of satellites. Root‑cause analysis and triaging issues, executing procedures to update software on satellites during manufacturing, on‑ground labs, and in orbit, must address responsibilities across products, features, and services.

Location: USA, WA, Redmond. Salary range: 99,100.00 – 160,000.00 USD annually.
