Position Summary

We are seeking a senior technical architect to provide architecture and design leadership across a diverse technology ecosystem. This role will help shape solutions spanning embedded/firmware technologies, IoT, mobile and web applications, backend services, APIs, data platforms, and cloud infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has broad technical depth and has successfully designed complex, distributed systems that must operate reliably at scale. This person will work closely with engineering and product teams to turn business requirements into secure, resilient, and maintainable technical solutions while helping establish the longer-term direction of the technology platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Define architecture and technical design standards across firmware, IoT, mobile, web, backend, data, and cloud environments.
• Develop scalable architecture strategies for new solutions as well as enhancements to existing platforms.
• Work closely with engineering, product, application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to design solutions that operate effectively across multiple technology layers.
• Translate functional and business requirements into technical architectures that prioritize scalability, reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Lead technical design discussions and architecture reviews for complex or high-impact initiatives.
• Establish integration approaches between applications, devices, services, APIs, and cloud-based systems.
• Architect distributed systems capable of supporting high-volume, highly available, and performance-sensitive workloads.
• Provide technical guidance during implementation and contribute hands‑on expertise when complex architectural challenges arise.
• Help engineering teams establish standards around system design, documentation, monitoring, observability, and production support.
• Promote resilient architecture patterns and operational practices across production environments.
• Support technical planning and platform evolution while balancing immediate delivery requirements with longer-term technology needs.
• Identify architectural risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement across interconnected platforms.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering disciplines and technology domains.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing, or delivering complex enterprise or large-scale software systems.
• Broad technical experience across multiple layers of a modern technology stack.
• Strong systems architecture background involving several of the following: firmware, embedded technologies, IoT, mobile applications, web applications, backend services, data systems, and cloud platforms.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and event‑driven integrations within distributed architectures.
• Hands‑on understanding of cloud‑native application and infrastructure patterns.
• Experience with microservices architectures, messaging and/or streaming technologies, data stores, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Knowledge of IoT architecture, including device‑to‑cloud communication, edge computing considerations, and integration with cloud services.
• Experience supporting solutions throughout the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through deployment and production operations.
• Demonstrated ability to convert business and product requirements into scalable and resilient technical solutions.
• Strong understanding of system reliability, availability, performance, security, and operational readiness.

Ideal Background

Candidates will be especially relevant if they have worked in environments where connected devices or firmware interact with mobile/web applications and cloud-based services. Experience architecting across those boundaries, rather than specializing exclusively in one application layer, will be particularly useful.
