Briefly Describe the Work:

GITI is looking for a System Administrator with experience in installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining server configurations (hardware and software) to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of networks. Administer and manage applications running on servers and the dependent add-ons. Assist in patching and upgrading the applications and prerequisites. Provide engineering services for system infrastructure, including design, installation, maintenance, upgrade, backup, disaster recovery, networking, system security, monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity management. The candidate will monitor, troubleshoot, identify, and remediate problems caused by complex software and OS issues. Partnering with engineers, administrators, developers, and project managers to plan and implement applications to support requirements. Document processes and procedures to ensure business continuity. Finally, the candidate will interface with administrators and users to understand, gather, and communicate requirements for projects and Helpdesk tickets. The candidate may work independently but participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents. A System Administrator must be able to collaborate well with a strong lean-forward attitude to shift knowledge left, deliver well, and produce quality results.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for installing, configuring, upgrading, patching, troubleshooting, and maintaining (hardware, software, and server) configurations to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  2. Manage accounts, firewalls, access controls, passwords, account creations, and conduct administration.
  3. Provide routine automation, maintain security policies, train, or offer technical support.
  4. Maintain the platform’s uptime, performance, resources, and availability.
  5. Maintain upkeep, configuration, security of the computers, and reliable operation of computer systems.
  6. Create automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Ansible to streamline processes.
  7. Build, configure, and maintain virtual environments.
  8. Ability to make decisions, estimates, and recommendations under conditions of urgency and pressure based on mature judgment, experience, and recognized professional standing.
  9. Stay updated on the latest advancements in system administration and conduct research to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Required Skills:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, mathematics, or related field.
  2. 3-5 years of experience working in System Administration or in related fields with experience in installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining server configurations (hardware and software).
  3. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  4. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to independently or to work effectively in a team environment; the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities/requirements.
  5. Knowledge of system security best practices and compliance requirements.
Desired Skills:
  1. Working knowledge of VMWare ESXi, VMWare Horizon, and Linux servers (Red Hat and Debian).
  2. Build, configure, and maintain virtual environments using VMware ESXi/vSphere systems.
