Job summary

Enterprise Solutions and Management (ESM) is seeking a System Administrator / Virtual Administrator to support an enterprise-level federal program. You will manage and optimize virtualization across on-premises data centers and cloud environments, ensuring security, availability and performance.

The role requires hands-on experience with hypervisors, virtualization technologies, and capacity planning, plus a Top Secret clearance.

Enterprise Solutions and Management (ESM) is a rapidly growing government contractor that provides strategic IT services that meet mission needs for Defense and Federal customers. We are hiring a System Administrator / Virtual Administrator to support an enterprise-level program within a federal environment.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Manages and maintains virtualized infrastructure across on-premises data centers and private, public, and hybrid cloud environments. Implements, upgrades, patches, and troubleshoots hosts, hypervisors, virtual machines, applications, and supporting infrastructure across development, test, pre-production, and production environments. Monitors system health, performance, capacity, and availability; automates administrative tasks and optimizes virtualized environments to ensure stability, security, and performance. Maintains accurate system configurations and documentation, supports capacity planning and performance tuning, and contributes to virtualization disaster recovery and fault-tolerance planning.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

• Knowledge of virtualization technologies, hypervisors, virtual machines, and supporting infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Ability to implement, upgrade, patch, and maintain virtualized systems across development, test, and production environments.
• Ability to monitor and troubleshoot virtualization infrastructure to maintain system availability, stability, security, and performance.
• Knowledge of cloud computing and private, public, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Ability to perform capacity planning, performance analysis, tuning, and optimization of virtualized systems.
• Knowledge of virtualization disaster recovery, fault tolerance, configuration management, and system documentation practices.

Minimum Training, Education, and Certifications

• Seven (7) years of progressive experience in the management and maintenance of virtualized server environments and hosted applications. At least two years of qualifying experience must include managing successful large scale, multi-disciplinary (network, virtualization, systems administration) projects involving virtual servers

Physical Requirements

• Required to stand, walk and sit; communicate verbally both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking (including stairs) throughout offices and between buildings . May require use of public transportation, personal or Government vehicle to drive to local and/or remote office locations.
