Job summary

Chenega MIOS is seeking a System Administrator V to support applications and IT systems in Albuquerque, NM. You will work on architecture, installation, configuration, backup and recovery, documentation, and security, maintaining Windows and Linux environments and collaborating across teams to keep operations resilient.

The role emphasizes on-call support, system monitoring, risk assessments, and adherence to OIT guidelines, with growth opportunities within a mission-driven government

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree, Certificate from technical training institute or combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of related technical experience in supporting IT environments at the server/data center level.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust.

Responsibilities

• Install, backup/recovery of DOC and systems; patching and hardware/software upgrades; Tier II/III support.
• Serve as SME for enterprise datacenter IT projects.
• Administer Windows and Linux servers in an enterprise environment.
• Ensure all SysAdmin activities follow established OIT guidelines.
• Track vulnerabilities and patch Linux systems.
• Manage file storage shares with proper ACLs.
• Oversee security and admin controls of services/systems.
• Manage IT on onsite or remote computers/network devices.
• Assist risk assessments to identify and manage HVAs.
• Perform systems management, monitoring and upgrades.
• Document procedures and develop new ones with staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

The System Administrator V will support applications and information technology systems including architecture, installation, configuration, backup and recovery, documentation, operational and development programming, reporting, system maintenance, workstation connectivity, user support, user training, security implementation, certification and accreditation, and user account administration.

Responsibilities

• Install, Support may include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of Data Operations Center (DOC), systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware and software upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.
• Serves as SME for a Shared Services Enterprise Datacenter information technology projects.
• Shall administer Windows Network in an enterprise environment along with applicable Linux servers/devices
• Ensure that all system administration activities follow established OIT guidelines and procedures.
• Track vulnerabilities and perform patching on Linux systems in compliance with requirements set forth.
• Establish file storage shares/folders with the proper ACL permissions; new and migrated.
• Responsible for the security and administrative controls of service(s) and/or system(s).
• Responsible for Information technology on multiple computers or network devices represented within an onsite system and/or a remote site
• Assist with agency specific risk assessments to identify, categorize, prioritize, and manage HVAs.
• Perform systems management and system monitoring and upgrade of all applicable systems.
• Document current procedures which relate to tasks.
• Work with other staff in developing and documenting new procedures for tasks.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree, Certificate from technical training institute or combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of related technical experience in supporting Information Technology environment at the server/data center level.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Ability to lead projects
• Ability to support Microsoft and Linux Operating systems. Knowledge of other Microsoft Products used to manage an enterprise operation.
• Knowledge of VMWare. Experience in industry standard data center physical security tools and applications.
• Knowledge of DCIM and tools used. Basic knowledge of Visual Basic, .NET, C#, PowerShell and other programming/scripting languages.
• Ability to develop project management documentation.
• Has excellent interdepartmental communication skill (written, verbal, presentations).
• Ability to work without guidance and the ability to resolve highly complex problems.
• Ability to lead projects
• Ability to support on call 24/7/365.
• Ability to occasionally travel to sites where the IT systems are located
