Job summary

Chenega MIOS is seeking a System Administrator III in Albuquerque, NM to support enterprise IT operations, including architecture, installation, configuration, backup and recovery, and security controls. You will work across Windows and Linux environments, document procedures, and provide user training and on-call support.

This role demands hands-on experience with data centers, patching, performance tuning, and project work within a federal government IT context.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical training certificate required or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of related IT/Server/Data Center experience.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Install, support, backup and recovery of IT systems in a DOC-like environment.
  • Serve as SME for enterprise data center IT projects.
  • Administer Windows and Linux servers/devices in enterprise settings.
  • Ensure IT activities follow established guidelines and procedures.
  • Patch vulnerabilities on Linux systems per requirements.
  • Manage file storage shares and ACL permissions.
  • Maintain security and administrative controls of systems/services.
  • Support IT on-site and remote sites; travel as needed.
  • Document procedures and develop new task-related procedures.
  • Provide on-call support 24/7/365.

The System Administrator III will support applications and information technology systems, including architecture, installation, configuration, backup and recovery, documentation, operational and development programming, reporting, system maintenance, workstation connectivity, user support, user training, security implementation, certification and accreditation, and user account administration.

Responsibilities
  • Install, Support may include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of Data Operations Center (DOC), systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware and software upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.
  • Serves as SME for a Shared Services Enterprise Datacenter information technology projects.
  • Shall administer Windows Network in an enterprise environment along with applicable Linux servers/devices
  • Ensure that all system administration activities follow established OIT guidelines and procedures.
  • Track vulnerabilities and perform patching on Linux systems in compliance with requirements set forth
  • Establish file storage shares/folders with the proper ACL permissions; new and migrated.
  • Responsible for the security and administrative controls of service(s) and/or system(s).
  • Responsible for Information technology on multiple computers or network devices represented within an on-site system and/or a remote site
  • Assist with agency-specific risk assessments to identify, categorize, prioritize, and manage HVAs.
  • Perform systems management, system monitoring, and upgrade of all applicable systems.
  • Document current procedures that relate to tasks.
  • Work with other staff in developing and documenting new procedures for tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree, Certificate from a technical training institute, or a combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of related technical experience in supporting an Information Technology environment at the server/data center level
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to support Microsoft and Linux Operating systems. Knowledge of other Microsoft Products used to manage an enterprise operation
  • Knowledge of VMWare. Experience in industry-standard data center physical security tools and applications
  • Knowledge of DCIM and tools used. Basic knowledge of Visual Basic, .NET, C#, PowerShell, and other programming/scripting languages
  • Ability to develop project management documentation
  • Has excellent interdepartmental communication skills (written, verbal, presentations)
  • Ability to work without guidance and the ability to resolve highly complex problems
  • Ability to lead projects
  • Ability to support on call 24/7/365
  • Ability to occasionally travel to sites where the IT systems are located
