Job summary

Amentum is seeking a System Administrator Professional to support the Space Force Range Contract. The role involves designing and implementing a new virtualization environment, building and maintaining VMware infrastructure, and coordinating with vendors and staff to ensure secure, 24/7 mission-critical operations.

The candidate will work with Windows and Linux servers, manage SCCM, and potentially travel (<10%). A DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one is required. Salary ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/MIS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years VMware administration (VSphere, Horizons).
• 3+ years MS environment admin (Windows Server, Domain, SCCM).
• 3+ years Linux administration.
• Security certification or ability to obtain DoD clearance.
• Experience in 24x7x365 mission-critical IT environments.

Job description

Amentum is seeking a System Administrator Professional to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC).

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal project team and vendors to design and implement a new virtualization environment for the space launch ranges
• Develop process and procedures for administering and supporting the new virtualization environment
• Build, configure and maintain VMware clients, servers, and architecture
• Supervise subcontractors and vendors performing installations and configurations
• Collaborate with system engineers to migrate existing systems into the virtualization environment
• Provide hands on support for virtualization environment
• Coordinate the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects
• Apply advanced methods, theories and research techniques and assist in the development, implementation and documentation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with business practices
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems, or related field or a combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience administering VMware VSphere, VMware Horizons, Blade servers and Storage arrays
• 3+ years of experience in the administration of Microsoft environments including windows server, Domain administration and SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager)
• 3+ years of experience in the administration of enterprise Linux environments
• Knowledge of VMware systems administration concepts, practices and procedures
• Analytical and creative problem solving skills for design and testing of systems
• Familiarity with securing server environments in a regulated industry
• Experience supporting 24x7x365 mission critical IT infrastructure
• Experience in transitioning organizations from standalone to virtualized environments
• Experience with system security and best practices
• Experience administering server environments in a 24x7x365 mission critical environment
• The ability to lift 30 lbs.
• Some travel may be required (less than 10%)
• Current Security+ or other DoD 8140 Certification or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of start date
• The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Applicable Certifications, preferred:
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Microsoft Certifications (MCSE/MCSA)
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA/RHCE)

Salary And Other Compensation

The annual starting salary for this position is between $80,000 – $100,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
