RCG is seeking a Systems Administrator – Windows Level II to support a federal government contract in Washington, DC. This on-site role focuses on installing, configuring, maintaining, securing, and supporting Windows servers and virtual environments, ensuring stability, performance, and security across enterprise systems.

Candidates must hold an active Top Secret clearance and CompTIA Security+. The position requires 4–6 years of experience, a BS in CS/IT, and five days on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and support Windows servers and virtual environments.
  • Monitor Windows systems for stability, availability, performance, security, and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server, operating system, application, and user‑reported issues.
  • Review system and error logs to identify and resolve technical problems.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and patching.
  • Manage user accounts, system access, permissions, and related administrative functions.
  • Maintain server security and support vulnerability remediation activities.
  • Perform and monitor system backups and support recovery activities.
  • Provide technical support for users and back‑end systems.
  • Support Windows Server upgrades, migrations, and other infrastructure improvements.
  • Work with databases, patch management systems, and LAN/WAN environments as required.
  • Collaborate with IT managers and technical team members to resolve issues and maintain reliable system operations.
  • Maintain appropriate technical documentation related to system configurations, maintenance, and support activities.

Salary Range: $110,000 – $118,000

The Opportunity

RCG is seeking a Systems Administrator – Windows Level II to support an ongoing federal government contract in Washington, DC.

This is a hands‑on systems administration role responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, security, and support of Windows servers and virtual environments. The successful candidate will help ensure the stability, availability, performance, and security of enterprise Windows systems while providing technical support and troubleshooting across the environment.

This position requires five days per week on-site, in a SKIF. There are no remote work options for this role.

Due to the secure nature of this government agency, candidates must hold an active Top Secret clearance and an active CompTIA Security+ certification.

What You’ll Do

  • Install, configure, maintain, and support Windows servers and virtual environments.

What We’re Looking For

  • 4–6 years of experience in systems administration or a related IT discipline.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance is a MUST HAVE.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, and 2019 environments.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience administering Windows servers.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and virtual server environments.
  • Familiarity with databases, patch management, and LAN/WAN networking.
  • Knowledge of network security systems, intrusion detection, system hardening, and data backup.
  • Experience managing user access, permissions, and system security.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or equivalent Microsoft Windows Server certification.
