Job summary

DLS Engineering is seeking a System Administrator II to support the AF I N C program at Gunter Annex in Montgomery, Alabama. This on-site role focuses on backup and recovery operations across DoD network infrastructure, with strict security and compliance requirements.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years with Veritas NetBackup, SAN storage, VADP, and NDMP, plus bare metal restore experience, and holds an IAT-II certification and an active Secret clearance. A strong teamwork mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years with Veritas NetBackup, SAN attached storage, VADP and NDMP configurations, tape libraries, Windows and Linux servers.
• Experience with bare metal restores is required.
• IAT-II certification is required.
• Veritas certifications (VCS-282/283/326) are required.
• Active Secret clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop backup and recovery plans, create/modify reports and procedures, monitor system health, and optimize performance.
• Test backups with quarterly restores and conduct trend analysis to identify issues.
• Perform annual DISA STIGs compliance checks on all servers and installed software.

Position overview:

DLS Engineering is seeking a System Administrator II (Backup and Recovery Administrator) professional for a full-time position in support of the Air Force Intranet Control (AFINC) program at Gunter Annex in Montgomery, Alabama. This is an on-site position.

As part of AFINC, the mission of the 26th Network Operations Squadron (26 NOS) is to provide mission assurance to the warfighter through the operation, management, and defense of the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN). In the execution of its mission, the 26 NOS maintains network infrastructure, to include routers, switches, proxies, firewalls, servers, workstations, printers, Storage Area Networks (SAN) and test labs, to provide maneuverability and defense of both classified and unclassified networks.

A day in the life:

• Develop backup and recovery plans, create/modify reports/processes/procedures, monitor system health, optimize system performance, proactively fix issues, identify and resolve network anomalies, conduct trends and analysis, and test/validate backups with quarterly restores.
• Perform annual DISA STIGs compliance checks on all servers andinstalled software.

When I read the below it sounds like me:

• 5+ years experience with Veritas NetBackup, SAN attached storage, VADP (VMWare) and NDMP configurations, tape libraries, Windows and Linux operating systems, physical and virtual systems, and other enterprise level backup hardware/software.
• Experience with bare metal restores (required)
• IAT-II certification (required)
• Veritas Certified Specialist:
  VCS-282: Veritas NetBackup 9.1 Administrator OR VCS-283: Veritas NetBackup 9.1 and NetBackup Appliance 4.1 Administrator OR VCS-326: Administration of Veritas Backup Exec 21 exam (required)
• Active Secret clearance.
