Stellar Science seeks an experienced System Administrator to manage and automate complex infrastructure across Windows and Linux, including development servers and collaboration tools, onsite at our Albuquerque HQ.

Qualifications

• BS in an IT field and 5 years hands-on experience administering Windows and Linux systems; or 10 years in lieu of a degree.
• U.S. Citizen willing to undergo a background investigation.
• Designing and managing multi-server environments with automation and scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Network infrastructure including LAN/WAN, firewalls, routers, and switches.
• Cloud services (Azure, AWS), virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and containerization (Podman, Kubernetes, Docker).
• Active Directory.
• Revision control with Git or Subversion.
• Storage systems (SAN, NAS, cloud) focusing on scalability and data security.

System Administrator
Stellar Science is a small scientific software development company based in Albuquerque seeking an experienced systems administrator to manage and automate complex system infrastructures, development servers, and collaboration tools across Windows and Linux servers and workstations. If you’re a self-starter with a track record of independently identifying problems, researching potential approaches, and implementing solutions in a collaborative environment, we look forward to welcoming you to our close-knit dynamic team.

The System Administrator will work onsite at our Headquarters in Albuquerque, NM. Remote work is not supported for this position.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

• BS in an IT field and 5 years of hands‑on experience administering both Windows and Linux systems; or 10 years in lieu of a degree
• U.S. Citizen willing to undergo a background investigation
• Designing and managing multi‑server environments, with emphasis on automation and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Network infrastructure including LAN/WAN, firewalls, routers, and switches
• Cloud services (Azure, AWS), virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V), and containerization (Podman, Kubernetes, Docker)
• Active Directory
• Revision Control with Git or Subversion
• Storage systems including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage solutions, with focus on scalability and data security
• Security practices, risk management, and disaster recovery strategies
• Excellent communication skills
